‘LET’S GROW & COOK TOGETHER’

  LET’S GROW & COOK TOGETHER’

Kilmacolm Primary School received funding through an Education Scotland Food for Thought grant in 2018. The school was delighted when Education Scotland asked to create a short film, as an exemplar of good practice. The film is on the Education Scotland website ‘The Hub’. It demonstrates how the school has used the Food for Thought funding along with local community support to develop a practical cooking and growing programme throughout the school. Working in partnership with The Haven, Kilmacolm Primary has been able to grow their own vegetables.

These tasty ingredients allow pupils to develop cooking skills and  the results have been simply delicious!! The children have made risotto, quiche and soup (which was donated to The Haven soup kitchen).

The children have been developing lots of life skills….maths skills, the children can accurately weigh ingredients.

Chopping skills, the children can chop fruit and vegetables!

Spreading, grating and cutting skills, the children can make sandwiches!

Let’s not forget washing-up skills!!!
