Personal and Social Education
At Inverclyde Academy, all pupils from S1 to S6 receive dedicated time one period a week for Personal and Social Education. Wherever possible, these lessons are delivered by their Pupil Support Teacher to ensure continuity and support.
In the Broad General Education (S1–S3), our curriculum is structured around the Health and Wellbeing benchmarks provided by Education Scotland. These benchmarks guide our planning and ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for all learners.

In addition to the core curriculum, we include lessons on a range of supplementary topics tailored to meet the diverse and individual needs of our pupils.
In the Senior Phase (S4–S6), we build upon the foundations laid in the BGE, with an increased emphasis on preparing young people for life beyond school — including further education, employment, and personal development.
Pupil Voice is central to our approach. Each year, we review and update our PSE programme based on feedback from our learners to ensure it remains relevant, engaging and responsive to their needs.
