CPR Training

Recently, the Scottish Ambulance Service delivered CPR training to Rooms 23, 24, 26 & 27. This was such a valuable experience, learning a skill that can help save lives. Here’s what some of the pupils had to say, along with a selection of photos:

“We learned the correct hand position for performing CPR and that you have to push down about 5-6cm deep for it to help keep oxygen flowing around the body. You might even break some of the ribs doing it properly.” – Lily

“You should perform 100 – 120 compressions every minute for the CPR to be effective.” – Eva L

“For every minute a person isn’t getting CPR performed, their chance of survival drops by 10%” – Brody C

“Without CPR, the brain begins to deteriorate after 3 mins.” – Carrie

“It’s called a code purple when you phone 999. Ambulances aim to get to the patient in under 8 minutes.” – Holly G

“We learned that out of 70 people in a week who might have a cardiac arrest, only 4 of them will survive. If we all know how to do CPR, we can help to change that number and give people the best chance of survival.” – Aaron C
