Corporate Parenting in Falkirk

Our Corporate Parent group has been renamed Falkirk Family and Friends to better reflect the ethos of our work. This name change was brought about by our Falkirk Champs Group as they didn’t like the term ‘Corporate Parent’ as it felt uncaring and business-like.

Falkirk Family and Friends have also agreed on their own definition of ‘Care Experienced’:

“The term care-experienced in Falkirk refers to anyone who has been or is currently in care or from a looked-after background at any stage in their life, including adopted children who were previously looked-after. This care may have been provided in one of many different settings such as in residential care, foster care, kinship care, or through being looked-after at home with social work support.”

We have been busy working on updating our Corporate Parent Plan and have now agreed on six priorities that will take us up to 2027. Our six priorities are:

1) A supportive workforce who understand and buy into their Corporate Parent duties and are trauma-informed.
2) Maintaining and encouraging caring and compassionate values across the partnership workforce
3) Voice: we will prioritise children and families’ participation in co-designing, delivering and monitoring our services.
4) Securing positive educational outcomes for looked-after children and care leavers.
5) Ensuring physical and mental health concerns are identified early and addressed quickly.
6) Identification of people with Care Experience across partnership systems.
