P6a Scots Language week
P6a have been exploring the Scots language this week. We enjoyed listening to the Scots story ‘Neeps and Tatties’ which led to great discussions about friendships and diversity. We used this book to explore some of the Scots language and worked together to work out what some of the words meant.
This week we also looked at some Scottish poetry, but first we had to
try and translate the Scottish slang into English! The children each chose a Scottish poem and worked very hard with their partners to learn these for their recital this week! What Superstars speaking Scot’s!
Digital partners
P6 have enjoyed sharing our digital knowledge with p2. We have been showing them how to use Book Creator on the IPad to enhance and showcase their learning.

Homework Policy
Following our consultation with pupils, parents/carers and teaching staff we have refreshed our homework policy moving in to term 3. This will ensure consistency across the school and will ensure we are meeting the needs of all of our pupils and families. Just under half of our families felt that home learning was important, with over a fifth of families sharing they felt it was not important. A very high number of families also share that they found home learning stressful, frustrating, a struggle and demanding. Almost all families felt that reading was important and this is why we have referenced the importance of reading for pleasure in our new policy. We have also introduced a termly extended family learning activity. A copy of our homework policy can be viewed by clicking on the link below –

Roman Mosaics
P6 have enjoyed learning about our Ancient Worlds this term, when finding out about life in Ancient Rome the children were inspired to create their own pictures and designs using the ancient Roman mosaic style.
