Another busy week in p4a. we have been working on subtraction strategies in Maths and continuing to embed our reading skills and strategies through our class novel. We have also begun our reciprocal reading groups. As part of our Scottish wildlife topic we made bird feeders and hung them outside for our local birds. We were able to use this for our procedural writing, giving instruction on how to make a bird feeder. In Art we finished our Scottish animals in the style of Pointillism, and they look amazing! 

We have had a very positive start to p4, it has been lovely getting to know each other.
We have created a class charter together and made a growth mindset garden as well as making our own emotion monsters.
In writing we have started procedural writing linked to our topic on Scottish wildlife as well as our class novel the Hodgeheg, which we are also using to develop our reading strategies. In maths we began with place value and have now moved onto addition strategies. We have been using our topic as inspiration for our pointillism art as well as leaf art and animal classifications. We also went outside to build our own hedgehog shelters which we then wrote about in our procedural writing.
We have been so busy in p4 already!

We’ve had another fantastic week in P4a. In maths, we explored probability and reinforced our times tables through active learning stations. In literacy, we learned all about the features of non-fiction books. We practised our note-taking skills to help us gather key facts and organise information. Then, we used our notes to plan and create our very own non-fiction books. We worked incredibly hard and felt so proud of our finished pieces! We’re hoping to add them to our school library so others can enjoy reading them too. We also had our final football session this week and took part in a friendly tournament. It was a great chance to show off our new skills and demonstrate brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship.

This week, we rounded off our Viking topic by creating amazing non-chronological reports. We also worked in pairs to complete a Viking quiz and made our own Viking artifacts out of clay. We have learned so much!
In PE, we had another fun football session, focusing on controlled dribbling and passing.
In maths, we explored tessellation and enjoyed taking part in active stations. We also did a maths-themed Easter egg hunt, which was a fun way to apply our learning!
The children have worked incredibly hard this term, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter holiday. Miss Maclennan and P4a
