Our final term of P5!

Luckily for us, the weather has been amazing for our first week back after the holidays. This means we have managed to use the pitch for our P.E lessons, practising athletics to help us get prepared for Sports Day! We have also started a fitness block. We worked with a partner to measure our fitness levels and will hopefully feel like we have improved these by the end of term.

We have been exploring Symmetry and Number Sequences. We used the grid and squares in our maths jotters to make symmetrical patterns and drawings. We had to find a rule to complete the number sequences and applied our knowledge from previous terms to count on and count back.

We started our week off by brushing up our Tools for Writing skills. Some of us enjoyed correcting the mistakes in the paragraph and identifying proper use of punctuation.

Donโ€™t forget to book your appointment for the pupil progress meetings and to check bags for the Summer Disco letter!

Have a great weekend โ˜€๏ธ

A week of culture and visitors ๐Ÿ˜

We were very lucky to be part of the Interfaith Roadshow this week. Most of us felt like we learned a lot and we couldnโ€™t believe how interesting it was! This involved visits from people who follow lots of different religions and they taught us all about their cultures and customs. The police also came and taught us all about safety and let us try some police gear on!

Secondly, we would like to thank all of the adults that managed along to our STEM open afternoon. We found the activities really fun and enjoyed testing our creations.

For maths/numeracy this week, we were introduced to Magma maths. This is an app on the iPads that we can use for tasks. Some of us enjoyed using Magma and working out the problems but some of us have said we still prefer Sumdog.

We attempted the Daily Mile this week on the pitch, some of us loved it and actually challenged ourselves to complete 2 miles. However, some of us did notโ€ฆ. we could not wait for it to be over ๐Ÿ˜…

We are all very excited for the Easter holiday and canโ€™t wait for our long lies and time off!
Have a great weekend ๐Ÿฃ

The week of the show ๐ŸŽค

Firstly, we would like to say a big huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along to our showcase. We felt so nervous before it but all of our hard work and practise paid off. We are all very proud of ourselves.

We have continued to develop our knowledge and understanding of decimals this week and many of us feel more confident with this! We have been challenging ourselves and connecting our learning to fractions.

Spring is here and we are taking advantage of the good weather by doing some P.E. on the pitch!

This week we have been exploring balanced arguments in writing. Our paragraph was all about children under 16 using social media and if it should be allowed or not. This was a very thought provoking subject and lots of interesting arguments were raised for both sides.

Have a wonderful SPRING weekend ๐Ÿฃ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒป

Showcase Showcase Showcase! ๐ŸŽค

We have been working really hard on our showcase this week and some of us feel confident with our lines, not even using a script! We have all been trying to practise our songs and our main focus now is to become a little louder!

We had a visit from the Budding Engineers who introduced us to their website/app BlocksCAD. We all used coding to make cups and tried our best to do this independently. Hopefully one day we can actually use a 3D printer to create them.

We connected our learning between fractions and decimals and used a place value chart to help us. It started off as very tricky but we all grew in confidence and could see success in our work!

Book Week in P5b ๐Ÿ“•

Everyone loved visiting the book fayre and most people found some books they wanted to buy. This week, we have been ERIC reading and created a book review on our current reading book.

Our showcase practise went very well and everyone has been given their script to practise their lines. We are showing confidence and are speaking clearly, all we need to do now is make sure we speak a little louder.

During our writing assessment, everyone took their time to ensure they were adding as much detail as possible and organising their ideas. We used all of our knowledge we have been learning to create a non-chronological report.

Have a fantastic weekend โ˜€๏ธ

A Musical Week in P5b ๐ŸŽต

The main focus for this week was getting organised for our big SHOWCASE. We donโ€™t want to say too much just yetโ€ฆ.. but all the practise (and singing) has well and truly started.

We have been working on our self assessment skills, specifically in writing. This is helping us to work out what aspects of our independent writing we want to improve. Many of us enjoyed this task and could see straight away what we wanted to get better at.

This week, we took advantage of the good weather and went outside to the pitch for our gym time. We all had to much fun and enjoyed the exerciseโ€ฆ. We absolutely needed a rest after it!

Have a great weekend!

A 2 Day Week ๐Ÿ˜„

We managed to squeeze a lot of learning into our short week. We completed a Fractions assessment and many of us felt like we done well. In gym, we learned some new games taught to us by our classmates and they turned out to be really fun.
Everyone was excited on Friday to wear our bright clothes to celebrate diversity day. Luckily, we are learning all about Diversity for our IDL focus and have been having really important conversations. Today, we focused on equality and equity and what it actually means when we say something is โ€˜not fairโ€™.

Have an amazing weekend!

A Speedy Week in P5b!

This week we used all our notes on Scottish Landmarks to begin our Non-Chronological report. Many of us enjoyed learning all about these and felt confident during our writing.

We wrapped up our Scottish Dancing lessons in P.E and enjoyed a mini Ceilidh to show off all of our dances. Lots of us improved our skills and we managed to remember all of the dances.

During our maths lessons, we have been developing our fraction skills. A lot of us believed this would be very tricky and didnโ€™t think we would be able to understand it. We challenged ourselves and worked hard and actually surprised ourselves with how easy it was when we focused, worked hard and made sure we were concentrating. This was a big success for us!

Some of us feel like we have made big improvements in reading. We feel more confident when reading tricky words.

We are all looking forward to the HOLIDAY WEEKEND ๐Ÿ˜Š

A Scientific and Interesting week in P5b

The visit to the Science Centre was enjoyed by all. Everyone enjoyed the challenges on the top floor especially the sprint challenge, hanging challenge and the jumping challenge. The Planetarium was interesting and we learned some new information for our upcoming Space topic.

Our new Scottish dance for the week was Strip the Willow. To start with, we found it tricky to coordinate but by the end some of us got used to the steps and enjoyed it. Some of us liked spinning around and switching partners.

We felt confident with French numbers this week and enjoyed practising these.

Most of us have also developed our skills with fractions and can confidently work independently. We are moving on to fractions of amounts and using our division and multiplication strategies to help us.

Have a great weekend!
