Robot Missions!

In the playroom, we had lots of fun exploring our robots topic through play and discovery. We learned how simple circuits work and enjoyed investigating how electricity can make things light up and move. We also used our imaginations to role-play as astronauts, travelling through space and exploring new planets. These exciting activities helped us develop our STEM knowledge while encouraging creativity, teamwork and communication.

Building Our Skills Brick by Brick!

We used LEGO to help us develop our multiplication skills in a fun and practical way. By building arrays with bricks, we were able to visualise multiplication facts and explore repeated addition. This hands-on activity helped us build confidence in maths while working collaboratively and solving problems together.

A Wonderful Week of Learning

We have had a busy and exciting week in class!

In writing, we created persuasive pieces to convince our teacher to take us to the zoo. This linked to our IDL theme, The Natural World, where we have been learning about different habitats and how animals survive in them.

In maths, we have continued measuring length and height and have been revisiting multiplication to build our confidence with times tables and problem solving.

In PE, we played ball games, focusing on teamwork, coordination and control.

We also learned about Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day, exploring different traditions and thinking about the importance of kindness and friendship.

A Fun Filled Week!

This week, we were very excited to welcome a zoo lab into school for a special visit. The children had the chance to see some fascinating animals up close, including a giant African snail, a snake, a desert mouse, and a tree frog.

We learned lots of interesting animal facts. The children discovered that tree frogs have special feet that help them climb, and that a frog’s eyes help it eat by guiding food into its mouth. Everyone listened carefully and asked some brilliant questions!

In the playroom, our learning took us back in time as we explored prehistoric animals. The children enjoyed digging for dinosaurs, carefully searching like real palaeontologists. They also used their creativity and teamwork skills to build towers, experimenting with balance and height.

In maths, we have been focusing on measuring length. The children explored comparing and measuring objects, using mathematical language such as longer, shorter, and taller during their activities

This Week in Learning!

This week, we learned about Scotland, exploring the thistle, traditional food, and how tartan is woven.

In phonics, we focused on the “y” sound, and the children proudly shared their learning with parents using magnetic boards.

In maths, we explored halving and quartering. The children used iPads to find halves in the playroom and went outside to draw shapes divided into halves and quarters.

It was a fun and busy week — thank you to all the parents who came in to watch our learning!
