This week in P5a…

As always, a busy week in p5, but as the weather has been getting better we took the opportunity to go outside and learn about angles in maths. We were able to identify different angles in the environment, as well as making our own ‘body angles’ we took lots of initial of what we found and used the mark up took on our iPads to edit them to show our knowledge of angles, then presented to the class. The next day we identified those of angles that were tales to our desks then used the protractors to measure them.
In writing this week we began writing our imaginative stories all about a magic box, we will develop our stories more next week. In creative enquiry we continued exploring forces with lots of fun stations. We also began our new IDL topic this week, investigating natural disasters.

Improving Attendance – Every Day Counts

At Wallacewell Primary we are passionate about getting it right for the pupils we work with. In order for us to meet learners needs, we require pupils to be in school and on time each day. Missing school negatively impacts on pupils academic, emotional and social development.

P5a short week

It’s been a short but busy week in p5! We had a fun session with Golf It, practicing our golf skills.

We have also been working vert hard on our Word Religions showcase , which was a great success, our teachers were so proud of how hard we worked! Superstars!

This week in p5a

This week P5a have been very focussed on their upcoming showcase about world religions, and are sounding fabulous already! We have still had time to make ballon rockets and cars as well as making magnetic games and testing out different electric circuits as part of our Forces theme.

We enjoyed having the play leaders from Smithycroft in working with us on Monday. Keep up the great work p5a!

P5a’s week

Another busy week in p5a! We have been exploring fractions in maths, this week we were using our knowledge of common factors and division to simplify fractions, we thought it would be really hard but when we practiced we could do it!

we took part in a competition to promote ‘walking to school’ and designed our own badges. We also took part in another competition for improving our local green spaces. We were very creative with our fabulous designs!

In literacy we think we are improving our reading skills and we also produced some great writing when presenting our balanced arguments!

We have begun working in our RME Showcase and our songs are already sounding amazing! We can’t wait for you to see all our hard work.

We ended the week, by starting our next block of committees, where we have set out lots of things to achieve this term.

PARKS FOR PEOPLE SCHOOL EVENT INVITE

Dear Families,

We would like to invite all parents, carers and wider family members to a community event being held at Wallacewell Primary on Thursday the 13th of February 2025 at from 1.30pm. The event has been organised by Parks for People to consult with families about what they would like their local parks and greenspaces to look like. This is an exclusive event for families at Wallacewell Primary School. Similar events are being held locally by Parks for People for other local residents. Please see attached flyer for further information. Children in the school are already part of this consultation and with the support of our Community Development Student, Anna, they are sharing their views about the parks and greenspaces locally. This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to share their views and in turn help to improve our local area. We look forward to welcoming you on Thursday the 13th of February 2025 at 1.30pm.
