At Hillpark we offer Music at National 3, 4,5, Higher and Advanced Higher level.
Performing
You will continue to develop performing skills on your chosen two instruments and through regular practice in school and at home, you will work towards a performance exam. It is encouraged that young people studying music in the Senior Phase take advantage of the instrumental tuition offered by our music instructors. This element of the course is worth 60% of the overall course award.
Listening
Building upon knowledge from the BGE, you will learn how to recognise different musical features and develop analysis skills through studying a range of styles. This element of the course is worth 40% of the overall course award.
Composition
You will experiment with a range of music concepts and compositional methods to create your own piece of music. You will analyse how music is created by musicians and the things which influence their work, and use this to inspire your own compositions. You will then provide a reflection of your own music, creative choices and decisions.
