Practical Woodwork and Metalwork

These courses cover a variety of practical experiences and are largely workshop based. However, there is a written element also. This consists of an exam and a logbook.

Students will develop safe working practices whilst using a range of tools, equipment and materials. Some of these skills include; reading drawings and diagrams, measuring & marking out, cutting, shaping and finishing materials.

These courses provide a qualification and a range of skills that are suitable for College or University courses and employment in Carpentry / joinery, furniture making, Construction, Landscape gardening and many more.

Options

Practical Woodwork is available as an option during your S3 Options Programme

Practical Metalwork is only available in the S5/6 Option Programme and entry will be prioritised to pupils who have acquired a National 5 Practical Woodwork qualification.
