Mathematics

Mathematics is not just about calculations and shapes; it is a way of being. Thinking logically and solving real problems are highly desirable skills. Those who have the desire to reason and think mathematically, are in high demand across the world. Mathematics is used in almost every other subject you will study and is important in your everyday life, allowing you to make sense of the world around you and to manage your life. 

You will have the opportunity to study course content in realistic contexts, making Mathematics more interesting and meaningful. All the courses cover work in the content areas of: 

  • Number, Patterns, Relationships
  • Measurement, Shape, Space
  • Information Handling
  • Application of numerical and mathematical skills

You will have the opportunity to learn Mathematics through a variety of resources and methods and will be encouraged to develop problem-solving skills through the use of both individual and group work.  In the Mathematics department, we strive to offer the opportunity for all pupils to study topics in more depth and have the freedom to explore the big ideas of mathematics.
