Biology

If you have an interest in the living world – microbes, plants, animals and ecosystems, then studying Biology would be a way to find out more. Biology is the study of living organisms and it plays a crucial role in our everyday life. It is an increasingly important subject in the modern world and has many applications such as disease diagnosis and treatment, sports science and nutrition and ecology and conservation. If you enjoy the idea of practical work in the lab and in the field and discovering connections between living things and their environment, then Biology may be the subject for you!

In S3 Biology, we will have even higher expectations of you than in S1 and S2. We will expect you to have a really positive attitude, show good behaviour and be committed to working hard.

To help you do this, we will provide you with as much support as possible. Our doors are always open so you can feel free to come and get help with anything whenever you need it. We will provide you with lots of helpful resources and we also run lunchtime revision sessions, after school supported study sessions, as well as many wider achievement opportunities.

Success in S3 Biology will allow you to move on to National 3, 4 or 5 in S4.

At Hillpark we offer Higher Biology in S5/6 as well as Advanced Higher.
