The MCR pathways programme within the school is a fantastic opportunity to help support young people. Hollie runs group work session with young people in S1 and S2, helping them improve their confidence, self-esteem and team working abilities. When the young people start S3 they can choose to have support from a mentor. Their mentor is specifically matched to the individual young person, and they meet once per week. This is an excellent opportunity for support with their schoolwork, their career choices, and their overall wellbeing.
Pupils are selected for the programme through referral by their pastoral care teacher and SMT.

“What does being a part of the Young Glasgow Talent/MCR Pathways programme mean?
Well, we take part in groupwork sessions with S1 and S2 each week. These sessions help to build confidence, self-esteem with team building and independent exercises.”
When the pupils get to the end of S2, they have the opportunity to meet one of our fantastic mentors, who will help and support them, until they choose to leave school. Through this, they have targeted 1-2-1 support each week, with anything they require – this can be specific subject support, destination/career guidance or general wellbeing support.
Through the programme they also have other fantastic opportunities such as Talent Taster (work experience) trips and other trips!
Some photos below include recent trips to Pinkston outdoor sports with our campus police officer Tanya and a trip to Braehead Arena for an ice-hockey game!
