SEET premiere awards: Hillhead success!

A huge congratulations to our fantastic pupils involved with the SEET award show.

One of our groups involved in the SEET premiere awards in Glasgow won the award for Best Acting in a foreign language short film!

This was the first time we had entered the competition, which had more than 200 entrants from all over Scotland. We had two teams selected for the final. Not only were we the only Glasgow state school selected for the film making workshop but the pupils managed to win a prize too! Bravo to all pupils and staff involved!!

Here are the films ( slight technical glitch with the subtitles, but at least you can enjoy the fine acting!)

Study Skills Evening

We will be hosting a Study Skills Evening on Monday, March 18th 2019!!

The workshop will begin at 6:00 pm and run for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.  The workshop will be active and we invite you to come along with your child so that you can learn together.

The aims of this workshop are to increase pupil and parental knowledge of study strategies and to build confidence in revising for exams. We will also discuss ways in which we can support pupils coping with exam stress and pressure. The workshop will take place in the assembly hall and teas and coffees will be provided.

You will receive a free study pack on departure to help further these skills at home.

We will also have Bright Red Books attending to sell some of their revision booklets.

*A letter furthering this information has been sent out to parents of S4, S5 and S6 pupils. Please confirm your attendance either by email or the return slip. This will help us organise catering and the free study packs.

You can confirm attendance by emailing mailto:gw15rotheryemma@glow.sch.uk

S1 Reading Challenge!!

We have entered Hillhead in the
First Minster’s Reading Challenge!

Our focus is on mental health
and well-being.

With our school Librarian, we have created a list of books which relate to mental health and to our school’s core values of kindness and resilience.

S1 pupils can read as many books from the list and will be rewarded
with various prizes!

^Check out our (book) SHELF CARE display!!!

After reading each book, pupils will then complete a mini reflection task. Then it’s off to see an English teacher to get your ‘book reward card’ stamped!

Lots of book-related events and prizes await! Happy reading!!!
