Face coverings update 27.08.20

Below is a copy of information sent out via GroupCall Xpressions app and email on 27.08.20. If you have not already done so, please download the free app or ensure we have an email address on file for you so you receive important updates.

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you will be aware the advice around wearing facemasks is changing and from Monday 31st we need everyone (except those with exemptions) to wear a mask in those busy areas. Many pupils are already wearing them when moving around school and you may have seen picture we shared on Twitter last week of staff wearing them as they move around school.  Others will be used to wearing them on public transport or in local shops. We will go over the advice again during registration classes tomorrow and produce some resources for our website. There is some really useful material on the Young Scot website to help support pupils and you can find it here. https://young.scot/get-informed/national/facts-at-secondary-school

Pupil Support staff will also have a small supply of masks for next week in case any pupil requires one.

Music Department Update

Music Department update in light of Coronavirus:

The following 2 documents have been produced to support our Music Instructors, Music Teaching staff, parents and pupils move forward in these challenging times in Music.
Certain instruments cannot currently be played in school (brass and woodwind) and singing is also not allowed at this current time. For pupils to undertake activities like this, video technology must be used to help support our pupils for the foreseeable future.
For pupils whose instruments fall under the current restrictions or for pupils who sing, a letter will be sent home explaining that they must read through the above documents. Included in the letter will be a page that the Parent / Guardian must sign to say that they have read these documents. This letter should then be returned to Mr Reid (Faculty Head of Expressive Arts).
Only at this point when the letter is returned and signed, should pupils start to engage in the live streams with their Music Instructors or video sharing with instructors or teachers.
If any parent has any concerns or has any questions, can these please drop Mr Reid an email at:
gw10reidross@glow.ea.glasgow.sch.uk

School Day Timings

Please see attached for information on the new start and finish times for pupils as well as times for interval and lunch. Time has been built in to allow pupils to move around the school. School begins slightly earlier for S1-S3 pupils and slightly later for S4-S6 pupils. There will be no MTA for the time being and period 5 on Fridays will finish a little earlier than last year to allow for the earlier start in the mornings. As far as possible, pupils are asked not to come to school too early but to stick to the times outlined.
