Option Choice Explained S2 into S3

The transition between S2 and S3 is the first point at which pupils are allowed to make changes to the timetable they follow. This is sometimes referred to as ‘minor personalisation and choice’. The school provides this opportunity so that pupils can shape their curriculum to suit their interests, while maintaining a Broad General Education (BGE).

For S2 pupils the process starts late in November. PSE lessons will focus on future pathways, making decisions for the future and options choice.

In early December the pupils will attend an information assembly and undertake a ‘Scoping Exercise’. This is intended to get pupils familiar with the system used to select options and also allow the school to measure the demand for different subjects.

Please be aware that, although paper options will continue to exist, all options choice information will be collected via an electronic form system.

Parents and carers can access and try a practice version of the S2 into S3 scoping exercise form below. THIS IS A PRACTICE VERSION – please use the final official version when instructed (a separate page will go live when the options process begins).

When the time arrives to make options choices the visit this other page for key dates and access to the final options form (CLICK)
