Recently, some of us visited the site of our new building. We learned all about site safety from Ivor and Honor Goodsite, the safety mascots.
We even had a go on one of the excavators.
Thank you to all the parents who attended our recent STEM curriculum evening and to the whole staff team for showcasing our learning and making this evening a huge success. Our parents loved trying out some of the experiences on offer and feedback was very positive and encouraging.
Great to see all the stimulating and fun activities and nice to talk with staff and parents.
So lovely to see the amazing resources and have a chance to meet other staff members – really lovely group.
Thank you for all the staff’s knowledge and expertise!
The resources were fantastic, in particular the technology.
Loved the ideas for playing and learning at home and seeing what children do at nursery.
I wish I could provide constructive feedback, but nope! The evening and it’s content was perfect! So much effort made! Such a shame more parents didn’t come along.
If you didn’t manage along, see what you missed here STEM in Glenwood presentation
We are very excited about the building work going on for our new nursery. We have been looking at the plans and created our own 3D model of our new centre.
Our block play area is so popular and versatile. We use the blocks in so many ways. We have opportunities for risky play as we climb and create slides.
Recently we have been very interested in performing so we created a stage. We have been dancing, singing and playing instruments while the audience watch us perform.
We even used the large planks as guitars!
We are continuing to develop our literacy through puppets. We decided to make our puppet theatre even more inviting and we used the internet to see what traditional puppet theatres look like. We also searched for more ways to make puppets and decided to make sock puppets.
If you would like to make a sock puppet at home, look out for our Family Fun Bags on sale this week and containing all you will need to make a puppet.
We had some cardboard boxes in the construction area and decided to use them to create castles. We worked together to plan, design and create our castles. We decided our castles would need turrets, windows, a drawbridge and a flag. We used cutting, writing and creative skills to create and decorate our castles.
We design and create all sorts of models in the construction area. Recently we have been making enclosures for animals and ourselves!
As we play we use measuring skills.
We work with others and develop our problem solving skills.
We develop our mark making skills as we plan what we are going to construct.
We are all involved in planning and preparing our snacks. We are supported to make healthy choices and we have fresh fruit and vegetables each day.
We set the table and prepare the food and drinks.
Last week we made clootie dumpling for snack as part of our Burns celebrations.
Today we made our own salad sandwiches. We put spread on our bread and chose our salad filling.
In the construction area we have been working together to develop the area. We used small construction resources to build vehicles and used the large blocks to create roads and ramps. We added a runway for aeroplanes and have created more roads using tape. As we play, we are exploring forces using ramps and gutters to create slopes and we are learning about direction using arrows.
