Santa is coming to Scotland theme

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Moonbeams class began their new theme this week. We read the story ‘Santa is coming to Scotland’ and decided to use Google maps to look at the places Santa visited on his sleigh.

We enjoyed exploring towns and cities in Scotland and pointed out places we recognised like local Tesco stores and libraries.

St Andrew’s Day activities

This week we had a sensory assembly all about St Andrew’s day. We tried different Scottish food and we painted our hands and created a class thistle picture. There were different sound boxes which we had to listen to and match to the Scottish character such as Katie Morag, Balamory and The Proclaimers.

Today we made our own Scottish flags using tissue paper and did some fine motor work following the different lines using our pencil.

Independent Travel

The Beech girls braved the weather this morning to go on our first independent travel outing on the public bus into town.   The girls were very responsible citizens as they looked after their own money and tickets and followed the routines of getting on and off the bus independently.

French Toast c’est magnifique!

The Transition boys cooked up a storm again this Thursday. They were all Successful Learners when they remembered the steps to create the perfect sharing meal. The table was set correctly, tea was made in the pot and a variety of different styles of French toast was created.  Knife and fork skills were thoroughly tested until we were full! A great social sharing time.

What did Mrs Claus say when she looked at the clouds?

Looks like rain dear (reindeer!) haha!……….Anyway… Santa was very kind and found some spare time when he could lend us his Reindeer for an afternoon. The Transition boys were Confident Individuals getting up close to pat and feed them. They even got to sit in the sleigh! Lucky boys!

St Andrew’s Sensory Assembly

On Wednesday morning the Transition boys took part in a Sensory St. Andrew’s Assembly. They were all Responsible Citizens as they took part in a variety of activities including, hand painting thistles, identifying the famous Scot and modelling a thistle. I think we all agree that our favourite station was tasting Scottish food. I’d share some photographs of that but the food disappeared in the blink of an eye!
