The Sungazers were ‘Responsible Citizens’ at our recent Scottish cookery session. They were learning about safety in the kitchen and labelled kitchen items. The children recognised the danger sign and placed it next to hot or dangerous items, before exploring some Scottish food.

The Moonbeams class worked very hard learning about the water cycle. We sang a water cycle song to the tune of ‘The Wheels on the Bus’, we looked at video clips of waves, rain, clouds etc and discussed how the water cycle in great detail.
We labelled a black and white diagram of the water cycle and coloured it in very neatly and also together built a lego water cycle diagram.
Personal Care
The Sungazers were Confident Individuals as they participated in a personal care/hairbrushing session. Don’t they look fab!!!
Party Time!
As part of their theme the Bluebells wrote an invitation to the Daisies class to invite them for a tea party in our class. The pupils worked together to create an invitation. The Bluebells made cakes during cookery. They demonstrated the skills they have learned so far by mixing ingredients, scooping and pouring out the mixture and behaving in a responsible manor while in the cookery room. The Bluebells and the Daisies enjoyed their party of food and dancing to music.

This week the Stars class have, amongst other things, explored big and small, started music therapy sessions and made star shaped shortbread at HE. A busy start to 2019.
The Snowplow – ‘Nitty-Gritty’
The Transition boys were delighted to welcome the snowplow ‘Nitty Gritty’ to the school. The Transition boys had suggested this name in the ‘Name a Snowplow Competition’. The boys were Confident Individuals when they had a look around the snowplow and a seat in the cab. The boys also won a sledge in the competition. Bring on the snow!
Time For a Grill Up
Following on from the Transition Boys’ Healthy/Unhealthy lesson they explored alternative cooking methods to make a cooked breakfast healthy. The boys were all Responsible Citizens when they correctly identified the correct kitchen equipment and used it in a safe manner. Some of the boys took charge of the drinks orders and made sure that everyone was well looked after.
New Year – Healthy Food
The Transition Boys were Effective Contributors when they all worked together on a class task sorting different foods into Healthy and Unhealthy. The boys identified each food and could correctly share with the class if it was healthy or not (even if they didn’t like it!)
Eggy Bread fun!

The Moonbeams class loved making eggy bread in the cookery room today. They were very sensible and responsible when using the frying pan and other equipment.
Meeting Mr Grits!

The Moonbeams class recently participated in a competition where we had to name local gritters. We helped name Mr Grits and the gritter in question came along to school today to meet us!
