Maths work in the Moonbeams

Effective Contributors, Confident Individuals, Successful learners

We were working on our maths skills using domino’s. We counted out the number of domino’s we each needed and then took turns looking for the correct number of dots when it was our turn.

We then added up the dots on the domino’s we were left with at the end to see who was the winner!

Activities this week

We made a variation of Pigs using paper and milk cartons.  This year it is the year of the PIG for Chinese New Year.

We have been confident individuals when carrying out our jobs within the class.  Jack was excellent at using full sentences when asking is his friends what they would like for their lunch.

Patrick came to pay us a visit at snack time, I think he could smell the toast. Anthony cleaned the table after snack, whilst Jack washed the dishes and Blake dried them.  Very effective contributors working together to tidy up after snack times.

We created our own clocks to help us understand how to tell the time, using analogue and digital formats.

The Oak boy band are still working hard and being successful leaners when learning new songs to play on the keyboard and their other chosen instruments.

A Snowy Day

After morning group and snack we decided we should all go out and have some fun in the snow before starting our numeracy work! It was a lovely morning, outside and having fun in the snow!

Sean and Anthony loved being on the sledge and being pulled fast through the snow. Others preferred just walking in the snow and throwing the snow up into the air and watching it float down.

Cameron has had his eyes on Mrs Boyle’s wellies since yesterday morning.  He enjoyed wearing them.

Here comes Mrs Macaroni

The Snowdrops have all been effective contributors during Scottish music sessions.  We have been using our Scottish recycled percussion instruments to shake along to songs or music.  A favourite song has been ‘Here comes Mrs Macaroni’ and all the Snowdrops took turns to ride on our rocking horse.  Great balance work everyone!

Some of the boys were able to tell us what happening to the gingerbread men in the different substances.

FAOL Winter walk

We all went in a winter walk around the Kay park. It was very cold and some of the pond had frozen over. The ducks, swans and birds were all walking on the ice. We touched the frost on top of the wooden fence.

Some of use looked at the talking clipboard to  complete a winter walk checklist, marking what they saw. We even used binoculars to see further.
