Elizabeth chose an elephant. It can drink 210 litres of water a day!

Tyler chose a mouse. It eats up to 20 times a day but never goes further than 8M from it’s burrow.

Ewan chose a turtle.  The have been around for more than 251 million years!!!

Amber chose the tiger. Tigers love to swim, just like Amber.

Power Off, Lights Off Day 2019

We have had so much fun spending the longest day of the year outdoors. We have been confident individuals applying our knowledge of different curricular areas to complete lots of outdoor activities.

We have been ordering letter and number pebbles to make number lines and spell our names, have used problem solving skills to build out own den, have taken part in a colour hunt and have used natural resources of our own choice to make imprints into clay.

Summer Assembly

Pupils enjoyed a relaxed, summer themed sensory assembly.  We made symmetrical butterflies, a sandy beach scene, a shiny summer sunshine and took part in a summer-themed relay race! Some pupils took advantage of the summer movie that was on in the background to get some well-earned rest.

Outdoor Learning

The weather hasn’t been our friend this week but we made the most of any sunshine we had by completing some fun challenges out in our garden.

We were very effective contributors as we each took part in a different challenge.

Here are some of our favourite photos:

Move and Outside Learning

On a Monday afternoon we are timetabled for technology activities, as a class we are successful learners and enjoy playing on the Active Board, and with the Switch it, and Melanie and Adam had a great time on the Magic Carpet this week – they were on top of the world!

MOVE and music in the afternoon has been great, Jessica loves being in her Standing Frame, Adam in his walking Frame and Melanie has been on her bike.

Cookery sorry no samples home this week, we all enjoyed a yummy cooked breakfast – sausages, scrambled egg and toast.

This weeks focus has been outdoor learning – sadly the weather has been cold and wet! We did manage a trip out to carry out our numeracy activity  and count the squares on the big snake – hopefully we will get out today for our story in the garden.

Today Mrs Howie had a special birthday, so we celebrated with cake!!!

This morning did some Sensory Art and also met Mr Campbell’s dog Molly, as it was bring your dog to work day.

And the sun shone!!! We managed to read our new story book out in the garden.

Week topped off brilliantly by a visit from the lovely Sungazers French Café – great snacks – thank you.

POLO Day

POLO day today – Power of Learning Outdoors.

The boys were confident individuals when taking part in all our activities.

We made lovely bespoke shoes from bubble wrap then dipped them in paint and strutted our stuff on the catwalk.

We also used the sticks we collected yesterday and created our initial with sticks.

The painted stones were used to play Xs and Os, then we got a history lesson from Mrs Boyle on how to play peevers.

Hunting for Sticks and Stones

Today we went out a walk looking for sticks and stones to use them to play games on our Outdoor Learning day.

We were very responsible citizens when crossing the road and had lovely kind manners when passing members of the public.

Once we collected all we needed, we had fun at the park. However it then started to pour and we had to quickly get back to school! We were soaked by the time we got back.

Snowdrops in the school garden

The Snowdrops were all responsible citizens watering our flowers in the school garden and gathering lots of different colours and textures.  We were effective contributors creating fun  letter shapes of our names using the garden textures.
