Halloween Fun!

Confident Individuals

The Moonbeams have enjoyed a variety of Halloween activities this week. They made spooky Halloween pictures, they made play-doh and then molded it into bats and spiders. The children were all really engaged while making a Witches Potion full of smelly and horrible ingredients such as eyeballs and Witches warts. Check out our photos to see what the Moonbeams dressed up as.

Halloween Fun (Part 2!)

We have been effective contributors this week as we have taken part in lots of different Hallowe’en activities!  We have made spooky snacks, painted some pumpkins, played games, had themed lessons and took part in some scary science experiments. Here are our favourite photos from this week.

Here are our pumpkins!  Katelyn made a fox, Sean made a mummy, Toni made an emoji, Gemma made a unicorn and Milly made a doughnut!

Digital Camera

We made a witch from marshmallows, a witches finger from breadsticks and a biscuit mummy!

Well done to Toni for winning ‘best costume’!  She made a brilliant Willy Wonka!

We had great fun at our paty!  (The staff dressed up as Ms. Pacman and her ghosts!)

We made a bat puppet in a moonlit scene!

Transition Class Hallowe’en

Hallowe’en was certainly different this year in Transition class. However, we still had lots of fun. The boys were Effective Contributors working together making masks, taking part in Hallowe’en yoga and enjoying a small Hallowe’en party. We had treats from the kitchen and a video costume parade where we got to see all our friends’ costumes. The costumes were frightening, as were the dance moves!

Halloween

Confident  individuals and Successful learners

The Comet class have had lots of fun getting into the Halloween Spirit this week. We had a magic lessons on Tuesday when we learnt how to make potions. We mixed our magic potion juice with common household items to see what colour it would turn.  We all made a prediction for what colour we would see. It was lots of fun but the potion juice smelt very bad!

On Wednesday it was pumpkin carving day. It was very messy as we all carved and scooped out the pumpkins, there was seeds everywhere! We finished though with 4 very  scary pumpkins to decorate our class with.

And then on Friday we all dressed up in our fantastic costumes and had a super fun day. Happy Halloween everyone!

Spooktacular Week in Oak

We enjoyed some noisy music experiences on the drum kit to Queen, ‘Another one bites the dust’. Everyone participated actively and were successful learners when finding a rhythm on the drum kit.

All week our literacy and numeracy tasks have had a Halloween theme we had confident individuals who focused their attention to all the tasks that were set.

We had fun making masks and shared our Halloween art work at our virtual assembly.

We played some Halloween themed games and had to think of an alternate apple game this year.  Much fun was had by everyone and they all participated actively.

Happy Halloween!

Theme – Water Channelling

Successful Learners  Confident Individuals

The Moonbeams enjoyed some outdoor learning building a water channelling feature. They poured water down the channels and watched it flow. They then put some objects on the channels like ducks, balls and cars and poured the water slow and fast to see how they reacted. The Moonbeams had great fun!

Responsible Citizens – Up-cycling

The Transition boys have a long way to go before their up-cycled greenhouse is complete. This week the boys focused on their motor skills and risk management when they cut the bottom off each bottle so that they slot together on the canes. The boys were all Responsible Citizens focusing on up-cycling to reduce plastic waste.

Successful Learners – Hallowe’en Numeracy

The Transition numeracy time took a spooky turn this week when the boys played a dice game against the staff. The boys had to roll the dice and see who could complete the most numbered characters. The boys were Successful Learners by counting the dots on the dice and matching it to the number on their characters. The boys beat the staff with ease!

Responsible Citizens – Assessing Risk

The Transition boys recalled their knowledge from previous weeks’ work to assess risky situations and demonstrate that they are Responsible Citizens. The class worked through several scenarios which showed either risky behaviour or safe behaviour. The boys managed to sort them into a ‘thumbs up’ pile or a ‘thumbs down’ pile. Some boys even demonstrated safe behaviours.
