This week we have been doing loads of numeracy activities. As well as our ILP work we have had an outdoor maths trail, learnt about clothes needed for different seasons, measured and counted ingredients needed for Empire Biscuits and made a rain gauge. We did size ordering, explored a sock box, played snakes and ladders where we used a dice and measured using large bricks. We had a great time learning.

The Stars class enjoyed many Macmillan day activities. We made Percy Pig cakes, took Percy photo’s, made pig masks, decorated a large cake and had sensory water and foam play. A happy, fun filled, day.

We tried to guess which items would float and which items would sink. We weren’t always right! Some items even floated for a wee while then sank! We had great fun. We’ve also enjoyed a treasure hunt, made ‘star’ sandwiches and made tree pictures as we explored seasons.

We experienced the warm weather as we looked up through the branches of the big tree in the sensory garden to see if we could see the sky. We touched the bark and made bark rubbings, The leaves smelled of pine.

We have had a happy week in the Stars class. We enjoyed time in the garden where we had a colour hunt and checked how our garden produce was growing. We also made scones which we ate for snack with jam and printed handprints and flowers for our ‘Friendship Garden’ wall display.

The Stars class have settled in well to their new classroom and routine and have enjoyed doing activities together after the summer break. We learnt ‘All About Me’ and told our likes and dislikes, made friendship potions, discussed kind and unkind behaviours, read Rainbow Fish and made personalised flowers for our ‘Friendship Garden’ wall display. In the sensory garden we weeded and tidied our planters where we discovered potatoes, onions, carrots, nasturtiums and sweet peas which were planted by Mrs Gardner’s class last year.

We made custard creams this week which we enjoyed eating at a picnic in the glorious sunshine. We also had good fun creating sunflower and seaside pictures. We made sure our seaside pictures had an ice cream van in it! The Stars class hope everyone enjoys a fantastic summer holiday.

We made butterfly cakes to celebrate our success at prizegiving. They were really tasty. We also had a great time at the Singing Hands Beach Party. We dressed up and enjoyed singing, dancing, actions and afterwards, ice lollies! Fantastic Day.

We did some activities this week ahead of POLO Day. We painted patterns with water and watered our planter where we are growing onions, potatoes, carrots, strawberries, nasturtiums and sweet peas. Our gladioli bulbs are starting to grow too. We made symmetrical butterfly pictures in anticipation of making a large symmetrical floor pattern today. Today we also made a water wheel (which worked really well!) and created nature’s crowns.

Pupils enjoyed making chalk marks in the garden and copying their names.
