This afternoon the SQA practical craft class made these fabulous Christmas tree decorations. The boys and girls explored a range of sensory materials in the art room and worked hard to make these eye catching crafts. Well done to these super successful learners!
Some of the John Muir pupils visited Dean Park where the rangers helped them to create bug boxes. The boys enjoyed using the drill and the hammer! Once constructed, the bug boxes were filled with a range of natural materials sourced from the woodland floor.
Excellent work from these confident individuals and effective contributors.
All the boys are really responding and enjoying their fun with food sessions. They are becoming confident individuals when asked to explore and taste food they do not normally enjoy.
We turned yoghurt into frozen lollipops and made some homemade ice cream which everyone tried! Very proud of all the boys in this group!
The Eco group recycled an item that would usually be thrown in the bin. The pencil shavings from sharpened pencils were gathered and then used to create a picture of a tree and a butterfly.
It was a very relaxing and fun activity to create something beautiful from rubbish that would have been thrown away. The boys were effective contributors using items to recycle and creating something new.
There will be a lot more exciting recycling projects happening over the next few weeks, with a Christmas theme.
The 2018/19 John Muir Group enjoyed their first visit to Dean Castle & Country Park. Neal Lochrie, Countryside Development Officer, guided us through the park (amongst the Illuminight displays!) and we selected an area suitable for our conservation project.
The children even managed to do a spot of pond dipping and discovered snails, damselflies, dragonflies and beetles hiding at the bottom of the water. Lots of teamwork from these effective contributors. Well done !
SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS
Anthony, Adam, Angus, Jacob, Ethan and Lyle all enjoyed their first lesson all together. We discussed how to care for our environment and then took part in some nature art activities as in introduction lesson to our new subject.
