• Maths Week Scotland

  P7S celebrated Maths Week Scotland with the rest of the school this week. They led outdoor activities for the younger children as well as taking part in their own Maths Week activities. They explored this year’s theme, Maths Matters, through writing, and they had a visit from Joe Gallagher (Creative Minds) who linked our IDL topic of Greece with maths through a creative lens.

• ECC Learning Week Commencing 21.9.26-25.9.26

  I n d o o r s – This week in the creative area the children have been creating their own patterns in the playdough. This was then extended into printing their own patterns using paint and natural materials. Most children have been interested in colour mixing with the paints, mixing primary colours to determine what colour they will make. The children shown good sharing and turn taking throughout.   Our Learning This Week This week in literacy, we learned the letter t and practised hearing, saying, spotting and writing the sound in words. We used the Jolly Phonics song and action to help us. Some of us also worked on consolidating the sounds sh, ng and th. In writing, we continued our work on detailed drawings. Some of us have continued working on descriptive writing. This week, we described a setting. In numeracy, we practised putting numbers in order, thinking carefully about which number comes before and after. We have also been using tools such as Numicon and Rekenreks to develop our number
