FAOL – whole school/citizenship

The Sunflowers did amazingly well as Sports Day yesterday. I am so proud of them they were confident individuals and very independent in their races. All the boys helped to create our resources for the spectacular French novelty race. We made onion garlands and our sensory flag to hold up at the opening ceremony. The boys listened to instructions and walked around the playground showing our flag and then sat well between races. They all race their flat race, completed their French novelty race and we won the relay race which most of the boys were able to complete independently. Well done boys!!!

Cookery

Today we were developing our spreading skills making pizza. We spread the sauce on the base and then grated cheese and sprinkled the cheese on top. The boys were confident individuals using the cheese grater and listened to all the instructions given by staff. The boys were able to choose pepperoni if they wanted it too.

EGG ROLLING!

The boys enjoyed painting our eggs green to look like frogs. We put together some logs along with some special blue paper to make it look like our 6 little speckled frogs were in a pond.

Today we rolled our eggs in the atrium. We used our listening ears and were confident individuals. We waited our turn and rolled our eggs.

Fairtrade Fortnight

We have been learning about Fairtrade this week. We had a Fairtrade assembly by the Snowdrops. We were confident individuals in making our own special Fairtrade delight for the Fairtrade Bake Off yesterday. We made cake pops with ‘rice krispies’ and made them look like sunflowers. The boys were fabulous at this. They waited their turn and listened to instructions. We even made extra so the we all could take one home.

AND WE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was our whole school Fairtrade day. We went to the hall and played fairtrade corners and pass the banana.  We were also very lucky and had a fairtrade hunt. We had a huge surprise at the end when we met a monkey in our school sensory room. He danced with us. We had great fun.

A visit to library

On Monday we went a walk to the library to choose a book to take back to school. We were responsible citizens and looked after the books in the library. The lovely ladies brought out Lego and colouring for us to do too.  We sat with the staff and read books together and then gave the ladies the books we chose.  We were confident individuals and were able to give eye contact with the ladies and given them our books to check out.

School café visit

This week we got an invitation to the Willowbank School Café. The older boys and girls made our snacks, served our food and took our money. We all sat at the table and looked at the menu. We all chose something to eat. It was very yummy! Even the ladies had a special treat of mint aero slice. It was delicious. Jay even sat next to a special visitor, PC Scott was in the school and came to the café too.
