FAOL Sciences – Making Fossils

Successful Learners

The Sunflower’s have loved learning to make salt dough fossils as part of their science dinosaur tasks.  All children were able to press dinosaurs down on the dough to make a fossil effect.  After they were baked,  everyone painted them.  Some pupils helped out by adding the ingredients shown on the recipe on our SMARTboard and mixed the salt, flour and water together to make the dough.  Great work Sunflowers!

Dinosaurs

Our new theme is dinosaurs and this week we were also learning all about the letter “d”. We made d dinosaurs. We were confident individuals gluing the spikes to the letter d and then using bingo dabbers to create a spotty effect on the letter.

We also were matching different types of dinosaurs to their shadows. We had to look at the shape outline and see if we could find the matching dinosaur picture.

FAOL Enterprise – Easter gift baskets/bunny tails

The Asteroids worked well today, putting together their Easter gifts for people at home.

We discussed who we might give the gifts to, then the boys set to work handling the foodstuffs without being tempted to eat them! It was very tempting!

We listened well to instructions and made confident choices.

Well done, Asteroids! The gifts are eggcellent!

IDL Toys from the Past

As part of our IDL theme work we have been exploring toys from the past and some of us brought in our favourite toys to share with the class.  We all were effective contributors when sharing our opinions on the toys from the past. We enjoyed playing with toys and the majority of the class said they preferred the old toys compared to their game consoles or IPads.
