Skip Fit Friday Returns

Who: P3-7 pupils, parents, carers and staff
What: Skipping skills, tricks and skipping champion competition
Where: Assembly Hall

EXCITING NEWS – PHOENIX TAEKWONDO @ ONTHANK

We are delighted to announce ‘Phoenix Taekwondo’ have selected Onthank Primary School to participate in 4 highly skilled workshops!

Workshop Dates: Tuesday 17 September, Tuesday 1 & 8 October.  The fourth week will be confirmed due to school holidays.

Workshop Times: 3pm – 4pm

Workshop Location: Onthank Primary Assembly Hall  

The workshops are ONLY available to  Primary 5/6/7 PUPILS and there is a limit of 20 SPACES available.

How do I sign my child up for Taekwondo?

Please call Mrs Andrew at the office on 01563 525477 to book your child’s space. Mrs Andrew will also be able to advise on availability.

All young people who sign up will be collected from their class and taken to the Hall by a member of staff and will be brought to the Main Office for collection at 4pm.

We advise pupils bring their PE kit for the workshops.

Aldi’s Kit for Schools

How it works… Get involved!
Every time you spend over £30 in any Aldi store you’ll receive a Team GB sticker. Take your stickers to school to help complete your poster. Once complete with 300 stickers send the poster back to us to receive an exclusive sports kit and to be in with a chance to win £20,000 for your school.

“Our Activities” Gymnastics Information

Dear Onthank Families,

We are delighted at the response and sign up to after school Gymnastics at Onthank Primary – our young people will be leading a parent class before we know it!

Sign up for the October – December sessions for Gymnastics has now closed, but fear not, all pupils who wish to participate in Gymnastics but missed out, will get the chance to sign up between January 2020 – June 2020!

We are already planning more than one Gymnastics after school day from January onwards which will ensure all our young people have the opportunity to participate, this academic year.

All P1-3 pupils who have been signed up were given a letter from Mr Swan today and popped into their school bags with updated information on how Gymnastics will run from now to December. If you have any questions regarding this information please feel free to speak to Mr Swan this week. He is available and happy to speak at a time of your convenience.

All P4-7 pupils who have been signed up were sent an email from the school and a notification on the school app with updated information on how Gymnastics will run from now to December for them. Again, if you have any questions, Mr Swan is your man!

Mrs Andrew and the office staff have copies of all correspondence and are also available to assist in any way.

Over half the school have signed up for after school activities – AMAZING – and we appreciate your continued support at this time and we make the necessary amendments to “Our Activities” in order to provide the best experience possible for each young person.

Our After School Activities – SIGN UP NOW!

Onthank Primary School After School Activities

September 2019 – October 2019

What a fantastic start to the new school year we have had at Onthank Primary, with warm welcomes and wonderful walking from all of our young people! What an amazing year this will be!

As Pupil Participation and the Onthank Community Voice continues to grow and develop we have listened to you, our pupils and families, and are excited to announce our after school activities from September to October!

Mr Swan will be leading Arts & Crafts, Performing Arts & Dance Fest while Active Schools will facilitate all sporting activities. Keep an eye out for the addition of even more coming soon!

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES WILL START WEEK BEGINNING MONDAY 9 SEPTEMBER.

P6/7 FAMILIES PLEASE NOTE THE YOUTH CLUB WILL START IN TERM 2 ON MONDAY 21 OCTOBER

Please note all children MUST be signed up to attend any after school activity, with a separate form for any siblings. Complete and submit the form to sign your child up NOW!

Rag Bag Collection

P7MC are fundraising using the “Rag Bag” Textile Recycling Initiative.  This involves collecting clothes, shoes, bags, hats, belts, towels, curtains ad bed linen.  The items should be clean and dry.  They will be reused in the Developing World, recycled into fillers for mattresses and soundproofing or used as wiping cloths for oil and printing industries.

Pupils will be issued with a “Rag Bag” to be filled or you can fill your own bag and send in to school no later than Wednesday 25 September.

 

 

P4/5 After School Football Information – SIGN UP NOW!

P4/5 Families,

We are delighted to announce P4/5 After School Football starting on Monday 9 September 3pm – 4pm!

Training will run every Monday from now until Christmas, except school holidays.

Pupils are encouraged to bring a change of clothes for Football and be ready to ‘train in the rain’ with coach and staff member Kris.

Kris will collect signed up pupils from their class at 3pm and bring pupils to the office for collection at 4pm.

P6/7 Youth Club Information & Reminder

P6/7 Families,

The end of another great week here at Onthank Primary – thank you everyone!

Please be advised our P6/7 Youth Club will start on Monday 21 October.

Pupil Participation continues to grow at Onthank, and we want to ensure our young people have their voice heard, actioned and celebrated. Working alongside Mr Swan, our pupils will design our Youth Club, its format and what they hope to achieve by running this activity.

This information will be gathered in the coming weeks, prior to our Youth Club launch on Monday 21 October!

P5 Golf

Golf Pro Bill Lockie will be running a one off after school club to promote the October Golf Programme taking place at Caprington Golf Club and Loudoun Gowf Club.
Bill will bring along letters/ consents for October on the day.

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  We are inviting you to join us for breakfast on Friday 6 September from 8.00 am – 9.00 am.  Please come along with your child/children (brothers and sisters not at school are also welcome).  Please complete form below if you are attending:

Children’s Breakfast Menu

Cereal, Fruit, Yogurt, Porridge, Toast

90p for the first child and 70p for all other children in the family (pupils in receipt of free school meals are free – this does not include all P1-P3 who receive free school lunches from the Council)

Adult Breakfast Menu

Cereal, Fruit, Yogurt, Porridge, Toast, Bacon Rolls, Croissant, Danish Pastries, Tea and Coffee

£1.50 for adults

Payment for child’s breakfast to be paid through ParentPay.  Adult breakfast to be paid on Friday morning in the kitchen.  All monies received for this will be going towards Breakfast Club Resources.

Mr Simpson will also be leading his “Skip Fit Friday” session during this time.

RESTORATIVE PRACTICE INFO NIGHT REMINDER

Onthank School Community,

We look forward to welcoming you TONIGHT to our Restorative Practice Information Event from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

All parents/carers and family members welcome to find out more about the approaches and values of Restorative Practice.

Pupils from P5, P6 and P7 are also welcome to participate in a Restorative Workshop which will also run from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

The Parent Council AGM will start at 7.30pm and everyone is warmly invited to stay.

Settling in to P1

Primary 1 pupils have been in school for two weeks. They have settled very well into their new routines and staff are  pleased with their achievements.

Our PE days are Thursday and Friday .

No earrings or jewellery should be worn while taking part in PE activities for Health & Safety reasons.

Please label all clothes, water bottles and pack lunch boxes.  The cost of milk is 20p.

We look forward to an exciting term in Primary 1.

The Kilmarnock Standard will be in next Thursday 12 September to take P1 class photos.
