Dunoon Primary and the Nursery have been busy working on this years Infant Nativity entitled ‘ A Christmas Recipe.’ Cat and Dog are helping Cook create a special Christmas recipe. Into a huge bowl all kinds of ‘ingredients’ are added in turn. Father Christmas is the first to be stirred in, followed by presents, robins, snow, a donkey, shepherds and angels, stars, wise men and one final ingredient – a Christmas gift that is all wrapped up in a manger. The love that a special baby brings is the vital ingredient to complete the recipe. Continue reading Dunoon Primary ‘A Christmas Recipe’

Christmas Card Competition
Tarbert Academy primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils researched the history of Tarbert Harbour for the Tarbert Harbour Authority Christmas Card Competition. In 2013 the Harbour Authority celebrates its centenary and they wanted the designs to reflect this. The winning design, by Lucy McKinven, shows the mail coach which ran from 1871 to 1913 and the memorial fountain which was donated to the village in 1910 and was removed in the 1940s when it was damaged by a lorry. (Even though the fountain is long gone many local people still refer to the site where it stood as ‘the fountain’). Continue reading Christmas Card Competition

Tarbert Primary – The Broken Roof
P3/4 performed an exciting play called The Broken Roof. We dressed up in costumes and learned words. We were very proud and happy for our play. We all got a good part in the play but the narrators did not act. We felt nervous because there were lots of people at the play. Three children in the play wore Victorian clothes because they were Victorian children in the play. We had fun with it.
Tansy Scott P3/4 Continue reading Tarbert Primary – The Broken Roof

Advent is a time for giving to charities and the children of St. Joseph’s very much rose to the occasion on ‘Crazy Hair Day’ on Friday 7 December. The children themselves had instigated this fund raising event for the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity, hot on the heels of a visit by one of its benefactors, Mrs Carr and her adorable golden retriever, Michelle. In total the children raised £144.30 by paying for the privilege of coming to school with as crazy a hair ‘do’ as possible. Much laughter was had by all as the staff joined in the fun sporting some questionable hair styles for the day! Continue reading Crazy Hair Day
