On Wednesday 6th December Dawn Barrett from Glasgow School of Art’s Access to Creative Education in Scotland (ACES) department came to Inveraray Church Hall to run a portfolio Day. 18 S5 + 6 pupils came from various secondary schools to show some of their work and glean top tips to help them develop their folios prior to applying for art & design courses. The day also included a practical workshop element focusing on drawing which expanded the pupil’s repertoire of skills and approaches to mark making. ACES aims to encourage S4 – S6 pupils from 90 target schools in the West of Scotland to make informed choices about degree level study in Art & Design and Architecture. The project seeks to widen participation in Higher Education for students who are often under-represented in universities.
