Strachur Early Level Class Trip

Strachur Early Level Class Trip 2On Thursday 11th March the early level class visited the recycling centre in Dunoon. Mr Wheeler gave us a tour of the centre and we saw someone pick up a skip with a big truck. We saw lots of different kinds of things that people had thrown away that can be recycled. Mrs Leyland put the batteries from our school into the section for recycling batteries. We learned that some items are taken away from Dunoon as they contain harmful gases. Also, we saw some bricks and stones that were going to be made into new roads. It was a great day and we really enjoyed it.

World Book Day at Rothesay Primary

Rothesay World Book DayAs usual, World Book Day was a great success at Rothesay Primary. To celebrate 100 years of Roald Dahl, pupils dressed up as one of his characters or a character from their favourite book. We had all sorts – Miss Trunchbull, The Grand High Witch, Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka and a crowd of Oompa-Loompas! Our local book shop, Print Point, moved into the library so that everyone could spend their book tokens and the school pupil librarians went round the classes sharing their favourite books.

Fair-trade Big Breakfast at Rhunahaorine

Rhunahaorine Big Breakfast 1Children at Rhunahaorine celebrated Fair Trade Fortnight with a Big Breakfast on Friday 4th March.
Parents, pupils and staff enjoyed wearing our onesies and tucking in to hot chocolate, fruit and cereals to raise awareness of the plight of the farmers who produce our breakfasts. We learned that millions of farmers in developing countries work hard to grow the food we eat yet many don’t even get enough to eat. We are trying to help them by making sure that our healthy breakfasts are also Fair Trade.

TIGHNABRUAICH PipersFive very excited young pipers were delighted when their instructor, Craig Campbell, arrived at school with not one set, but FIVE sets of bagpipes. They were extremely proud and relieved that they were able to get a sound out of them after much huffing and puffing.
