Carol Singing at Bowmore

The Mainstream and Gaelic pre-five units of Bowmore Primary went to visit the residents of Kirk Care on Monday 17th December.  They entertained with renditions of ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘When Santa got stuck up the Chimney’.  The Gaelic pre-five children followed on with a lovely Gaelic carol.  This was a lovely afternoon as the different generations enjoyed each other’s company. The children were suitably rewarded by the residents as they each left with a present, tucked under their arm – thank you so much everyone!

Pre-5 Lochgilphead Joint Campus —Art Exhibition

The Pre-5 Unit recently had a visit from Art teacher, Alec Ohnstad, who gave the children some tips as they painted pictures for their Art Exhibition.  Family and friends had the opportunity to purchase the artwork in order to raise funds for the charity, Mary’s Meals.  The Art Exhibition was a great success and all pieces were quickly snapped up!  As well as the sale of their paintings, the children ran a café and had baked flapjacks to  serve to those visiting the exhibition. The fantastic sum of £80 was raised.

A  Very Merry Christmas Market

‘Carols By Candlelight’

On Monday 17th December, the Round Church in Bowmore was lit up with flickering candles in preparation for Bowmore Primary’s ‘Carols By Candlelight’ service. This was very ably led by P.4/5. It was a very special time for the children and our community. Each class stood and sang either a Christmas carol or song to a packed church whilst P4/5 told us the Christmas Story. Special angels designed by the children, decorated the church. The simplicity of the service reminded us of the meaning of Christmas. By the time the P 4/5 service ended, everyone left the church with a lovely warm Christmas feeling. Merry Christmas everyone.

‘Snow White’ sparkles at Bowmore

Bowmore Primary held one of their finest pantomimes to date this December! The familiar story of ‘Snow White’ was retold in a sparkling version of song and dance.
Every class took part and performed a well-rehearsed and very professional routine. Our P.7s took on board the principal roles, from a very handsome Prince Justin of Bieberville to our outrageous dame, Sarah Sausage. Snow White walked on straight from a Walt Disney film as did the very wicked Queen – boo! Continue reading ‘Snow White’ sparkles at Bowmore

Nativity Play at Castlehill

Friday 14th December was a very special afternoon in Castlehill Primary. Primary 1 and Primary 2 delighted family and friends with their excellent and well rehearsed Nativity Play. Expertly narrated by 5 of our Primary 2 pupils, the story unfolded to a hushed and very appreciative audience. Angels sang, stars shone, shepherds tended their flock, wise men found their way, and Mary, Joseph and their new baby were cosy in the stable. The afternoon was brought to a close with a rousing rendition of “We Wish you a Merry Christmas”. Continue reading Nativity Play at Castlehill

Rothesay Primary WOW two sold-out audiences!

P4-7 pupils in Rothesay Primary took part in an oustanding pantomime last week called ‘Cinderella Jones’. This production told the story of Sally, a girl in a very similar dilema to Cinderella in the traditional fairy tale. We had a 5 strong team of rapping mice, a duo of hilarious fairy godmothers and their ‘squeegie’ dancer girls, Matt Vinyl: an overly confident DJ and his two crazy pals, our two ugly (but they were beautiful) sisters, the cool and charming Surfin’ Sam and of course, Sally. Our P1,2 and 3 pupils entertained our two sold-out audiences with Christmas songs during the interval. Continue reading Rothesay Primary WOW two sold-out audiences!

Community Christmas Tree Festival

The P1/2 class from Bunessan Primary School had an excellent time decorating a tree for the Ross of Mull and Iona Community Christmas Tree Festival held in Bunessan Hall on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December. The theme this year was a ‘special event’, so the P5/6/7 class decided that we should decorate our tree in a forest theme as they’d all very much enjoyed forest workshops with An Tobar artist in residence, Emma. JLB’s Musical Medley

Parents and friends of John Logie Baird Primary were wonderfully entertained by the children of the school during their Christmas performance of ‘JLB’s Musical Medley’.
They were taken to different locations through songs such as ‘How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria’, ‘ Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, ‘Under The Sea’ & ‘I’m The King of The Swingers’.
The children learned a lot during the creation of the concert about performing to an audience, prop making, costume design and creative dance.

Achaleven Holly Tea

We held our Holly Tea in the school last Saturday. We had fun getting ready for the big day. We iced biscuits, made beautiful table decorations with holly and candles and decorated the classroom with festive pictures.
Everyone helped on the day. There was lots and lots of lovely home baking for sale. Fair Trade tea and coffee was on offer as we are working towards becoming a Fair Trade school. Lots of people turned up to support us and munched through mince pies and shortbread. Continue reading Achaleven Holly Tea
