Where’s Wally?
Dunoon Primary School Primary 5/4 invited their family and friends into their classroom last Wednesday to allow them to see all of the hard work they had put in to their ‘Where’s Wally?’ topic. There were many Wally Watchers to be seen around the class, with a variety of disguises on show. The class had studied different continents and selected a country from within each continent to look at in more depth. From their findings, they produced a travel brochure which highlighted what they felt were the features that would encourage someone to visit the country of their choice. Colgrain Pre-5 Unit Fire Station visit
On Monday 23rd May, Colgrain Pre-5 Unit boys and girls had a very exciting adventure to Helensburgh Fire Station. We have been learning about our local environment and the special roles that people play in it. We were taken on a tour of the Fire Station and got to see the sleeping quarters, the kitchen, the pole, the fire engines and we all got a shot of the hose! Mr Mussett also showed us the medical equipment that the firefighters use. When the morning boys and girls were there we got to see a real emergency call out – it was very exciting! Thank you to all the parents who accompanied us on our trip, and an especially big thank you to Mr Mussett for organising our visit! Continue reading Colgrain Pre-5 Unit Fire Station visit

There was a variety of work on display but all were particularly proud of the watercolour landscapes they had worked on with Mrs Cindy MacDonald. These were also turned into cards and prints were available.

Bowmore Goes Gaelic!
On Thursday 28th April, we hosted a Gaelic Open Afternoon to share our learning with our families and friends! Each class’s IDL had a Gaelic theme – whether it was historical or cultural!
Gaelic songs were sung, Gaelic stories were told. Lots of lovely art work illustrated the stories children had been learning about! The Gaelic tradition of the belief in the fairy world was explored – there was even a glittery fairy garden in the grounds of BPS! Many children are going home to create their own.

International Education at St. Joseph’s!
St. Joseph’s was delighted to host an information afternoon for some Dutch teaching colleagues this week. A total of nine colleagues from Holland joined us to find out a bit more about the Scottish Education System. We had been approached by Strathclyde University as the Dutch teachers were their visitors and were in Scotland to look at Science and Technology in particular. Having previously been involved with Strathclyde University in developing their VIP approach to Science (for which they won an award), we were happy to help.
