Many thanks to all who contributed on Friday to Mrs Tato’s memorial day. The children from Pre-5 to P5 enjoyed their pizza workshops with P6/7 (Mrs Tato loved Italy and used to stay there).
We had delicious strawberry and banana smoothies made by the P5 girls, to fit with our Bahamas themed day – Mrs Tato loved the Bahamas and said she always wanted to go there on holiday.
The rounders tournament went down well with ‘Glensluain’ the winning house – only to be beat by the adult team! The sun shone on us for the rounders, having been grey and wet all day. It was perfect – Mrs Tato loved to play rounders in the playground with her pupils, her favourite saying being “keep your eye on the ball!” And if you missed a shot, “hard lines”.
Parents/carers, friends of the school and ex-members of staff spent the afternoon with us to remember Mrs Tato. We raised a fantastic £302.75, including a generous donation that was handed into school today. This will allow us to have a dedicated bench in the school playground, positioned where Mrs Tato used to like to sit and referee her class’ rounders games. We will also have a ‘literacy shield’ engraved, to be awarded to a Primary 7 pupil each June, for excellence in literacy.
Thank you for the memories Mrs Tato.
Hi Strachur

I’ve known Fiona Tato since she was six. We trained together at Jordanhill college. A dedicated teacher who spoke so proudly of Strachur Primary. She would have loved the Memorial Day!
