Well done to all of our classes for decorating a Poppy to make this lovely display on our front doors.
Lest We Forget.
Spooky Celebrations
Our pupils had a great time on Monday, exploring different Halloween activities in our new hall-pumpkin faces, spooky sensory tray, feed the ghost, Halloween stories, building characters and ghost stacking. The secondary had a ball at their Halloween disco, with party games, party food and of course, dooking for apples!
Special Primary Assembly
This morning was a very special primary assembly…we announced the P7 head pupils and prefects! We are delighted that Cara and Theodore will be our P7 head pupils and Orin, Aaron, Ndey and Harry will be supporting them as prefects. Well done!
Scottish Maths Week
The Beauty of Maths
What a great week we had celebrating Scottish Maths Week in Pinewood this week. We had lots of fun learning about the different ways we use maths in everyday life. We explored the maths in music and art, and outdoors.
Every-one enjoyed the Maths Challenge afternoon Lorna organised for us on Tuesday, where we explored colour, shape, pattern, matching and sorting whilst playing and taking part in lots of different activities. Even the staff had fun!!
Have a look at some of the great photos of our fun week learning about the beauty of maths.
Messy Play Sessions at Pinewood
Messy Play
We were delighted to welcome our parents into school on Friday 23rd September from primary and secondary stages. Rachel, our Family Liaison Co-ordinator organised a fantastic messy play workshop to demonstrate the benefits of sensory play and the opportunities for positive interactions it can promote. Our parents got messy with their children and a lot of fun was had by all. As we say in Pinewood, a messy day is a fun day😁
Leisure Based Activities in the Community
Our Senior Phase pupils have been enjoying some new leisure based activities in the community as part of their Leavers Programme. They have been enjoying being out and about as they try out the various assisted bikes at the West Lothian Bike Library. I am not quite sure who was more tired after the first day, staff or pupils!!
Thanks again to all the volunteers at the Bike Library who make this happen.
If you would like to access the bikes at the library out with school, then see the link below for more information.

Welcome to Our New P1 Parents
Thank-you to our new P1 parents who came along to school on Friday morning for some cake and coffee. It was lovely to welcome you to the school, and to introduce you to Rachel, our Family Liaison Co-ordinator. Rachel will have a few more dates to add to your calendar over the coming months for a chance to meet with other parents and learn about some of the things we do in school to help the youngsters each day. We also look forward to learning from you too!
A special thank-you to our Employability Group who looked after us well with tea, coffee and home bakes. It was also a good opportunity to buy some lovely plants which you have been growing from the garden.
Pinewood Leavers Prom 2022
On Thursday we had a fantastic event in Pinewood School. Our first in person prom in our new school. Pupils all looked fabulous in their special outfits, and the staff looked pretty good too!
What a fun time we had celebrating with our young people as they prepare their journey to life after school.
We had brilliant food prepared by our super staff chef’s in the kitchen, and welcomed some old friends back to school to join the party! With music, dancing, a Selfie Booth and lots more, what a night we had!
Here are some of the photo’s for you to enjoy……
Bugingham Palace – Design, Cost and Make with BAM Construction
Over the last couple of weeks Group 2 have been working on a project with BAM Construction who have built our new school. The pupils have been supported to design a bug hotel. We have learned how to work out how much it would cost to make the hotel and of course build their final product. Lots of fun talking about the best way to build the hotel and what materials to use.
Thank-you to Paul and Jim from BAM who worked with us throughout the project, and helped us to build in one of the new outside areas we have in our school grounds. We look forward to looking for the bugs who come to stay over the coming months!
