Silver Class always brushing teeth after lunch. To help look after our teeth.

Healthy food exploration in Red Class

Throughout our growing topic, Red class have had lots of opportunities to explore different fruit and vegetables that are grown. Over the last two weeks we have tried lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, grapes, kiwi and orange. This week we were even using our fine motor skills to thread some fruit on skewers to make some edible caterpillars! Most of us thought they were delicious!

Group 1 Measuring Activities

Group 1 have been enjoying taking part in different measuring tasks. We have been reading books about measurement discovering ancient measurement of length was based on the human body. Group 1 explored different types of measurements including lengths, mass and volumes. We spoke about the different units of measurements and had a scavenger hunt to find different packages with measurements on. We used the i pads to explore google maps finding out the distance to some of our favourite places or places we’d like to visit.  Fun was had using the trundle wheel outside and measuring rainfall in a beaker. The young people had fun making their own play dough counting cups. We then used our fraction work to try and split the play dough into equal parts using scales to see if we were accurate. One pupil used the play dough to help complete some equivalent fraction work. Fun was also had making numbers, letters and patterns with the play dough. We then used the measuring jug to make our own kinetic sand working hard to follow instructions and measure carefully.

Group 4 Blackburn Book trail

Group 4 recently completed a book trail around Blackburn which was run in conjunction with some of the other local schools. The pupils enjoyed visiting the different locations around Blackburn to find the clues.

The pupils were delighted to receive certificates for their participation in the book trail and Cody was the lucky winner of a £10 book token. Well done everyone!

Growing in Red Class

We have had a busy start to our last term in Red Class where he have been working hard to prepare our class assembly and also start our new topic ‘Growing’.

So far we have explored some different fruit and vegetables which grow from the ground and even got to take part in some sensory play with some soil and seeds. This week we have also planted some pumpkin seeds!
