As well as a bear, it includes some pesky rabbits too. I hope none of you are being pesky! Mind you, it is nearly the weekend so you can have some time off from home learning and hopefully do something nice with your families.
Best wishes and thank you again for watching all the videos and sending me your kind messages.
I hope you are all well. I have enjoyed looking at all your lovely work. Keep sending it to myself or Mrs Mills so we can share in your learning.
Today we are continuing to work on 2D shapes and homes around the world. I have also been thinking about how we might be feeling just now. We might be feeling a bit worried about lots of things. Worry is a totally normal part of life. Worry can even keep us safe but worrying too much can stop us from doing things.
I found a good story about a little girl called Ruby who has a lot of worries. Listen to the story then you can have a chat to someone in your family about any worries you may have. It helps to talk.
When I am worried I listen to music and sing along this always makes me happy and I forget about my worries .Try singing along to this I am sure it will make your family happy too.
Welcome to the Story Time from Home page although it seems like yesterday some of you were left rather disappointed when the links didn’t work.
I am very sorry about this. I do check them and they both worked fine for me and they did work for some other people it seems. I am able to tell how many people watch each video and I just thought maybe you were all having the day off yesterday!
Here is the link for today’s story which is quite a short one and finger’s crossed will work. Grown ups – please let me know if it doesn’t and I’ll see what, if anything, I can do.
I hope you are all well, I can see from your emails that you are all working really hard. This weekend was an exciting weekend for my husband as he ordered hair clippers so I could give him a haircut. It was very funny and scary cutting his hair. He kept stopping me to check his hair. I did manage to cut it although I think he can’t wait for the barbers to open so he can get his hair cut properly.
This made me think about jobs that your might like to do when you grow up. What would you like to be? A vet, a nurse, a train driver, a scientist, a firefighter or work in an office. When I was little I wanted to be a nurse. Mabye you can draw me a picture of what you would like to be when you grow up.
I hope you had a lovely day yesterday. It has been so nice to hear updates from you about how you are getting on. It just reminds me of how imaginative and creative you all are. Thank you for sharing with me.
Today is National Numeracy Day
Here are some fun activities you may want to choose to do.
This week’s learning grid asks you to research houses and homes in different parts of the world and then draw and label a house of your choice from a different country.
Here is a link to a PowerPoint which may give you some ideas. Remember, these are suggested activities and you just do what fits in with your family. There is no pressure to do everything!
I saw this super website link on Mrs Mills blog page and thought I would share it with you because it has lots of information and pictures of real bears that you might like to have a look at if you’ve time.
I’ve also made another video today which has nothing to do with bears but is an activity about rainbows which is another theme in today’s story. The idea for this came from children in my class so why not watch it to find out more…
I see that you have been thinking about all the bears appearing in the windows just now. It’s good fun hunting for them when you are out and about and I’ve spotted quite a few!
It reminds me of the story called “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”
Do you know that story? It is a bit like a song because there is lots of rhythm and rhyme in it. In the story there are lots of places to get through on the hunt and I wonder what instruments or sounds you would choose for them? They are
the long swishy grass the bumpy forest
the rushing water the wild snowstorm
the squelchy mud the quiet cave
If you don’t remember the instruments here are some ideas for sounds at home!
.
Let me know what sounds you would choose and don’t forget the big fright at the end when the bear is found!
Thank you to everyone who has emailed me over the past week. It is always great to read and see what you have been doing at home with your families. If you haven’t emailed me yet, please try to email today and let me know what you have been doing at home.
Although it was a little cooler yesterday, I hope you still managed to get outside to play, walk or cycle. I wonder how many of you prefer to go for a cycle and how many of you prefer to go for a walk? You could draw a picture of which one you like the best and email it to me. That’s quite tricky for me to decide as I love to walk and to cycle so I would have to draw a picture of me walking along the river path and a picture of me cycling along the river path!
We are learning the qu sound in our phonics this week. Here is Geraldine the Giraffe to help you with this sound.
Remember there is a 2D Shape blog this week with links to help you learn about all the shapes.
I received an email yesterday with a super picture made from 2Dshapes. I thought I’d share this with you today.
Can you name all the 2D shapes?
I also received an email telling me about someone in our class who made 2D shape flashcards and was teaching other family members all the shapes. Fantastic shape work!
How are you all today? I know lots of you are enjoying listening to Miss McDermott’s stories. Did you enjoy “Beware of the Bears”?
I wonder if you know any facts about bears? Perhaps you would like to do some research and see what you can learn. Here is a website that you might want to look at. Mrs Boyle and I would be interested to know what is your favourite bear and why.
As we are learning about 2D shape this week you might want to try and make a bear picture using shapes. If you have a printer you could print out these templates. One uses 5 different shapes but if you would like more of a challenge you could try using 10 different shapes. If you don’t have a printer you could find some shapes to draw round to design your own bear.
Have fun learning and remember to try and contact us once a week if you can, either to show us some of your great learning or just to say hello and let us know that you are well.
