Story Time From Home – Wednesday 13th May

Hello boys and girls

Today’s Story Time From Home  is all about a polar bear.

I saw this super website link on Mrs Mills blog page and thought I would share it with you because it has lots of information and pictures  of real bears that you might like to have a look at if you’ve time.

I’ve also made another video today which has nothing to do with bears but is an activity about rainbows which is another theme in today’s story.  The idea for this came from children in my class so why not watch it to find out more…

and have a go!  It’s great fun!

  1. Thanks, Miss McDermott, for all your story time from home! We enjoy them all. Unfortunately today both the video links don’t work. We kept clicking since this morning but they look faulty links.

    1. Hello
I’m not quite sure what the problem is today. They are working fine for me but another parent had a problem first thing this morning and then they seemed to work fine. Can you please try these links and let me know how you get on.

      1. Morning Miss McDermott!

Strangely the videos started showing at about 9pm last night, but not before, as I kept trying from morning till evening. We noticed the links seemed shorter than usual, missing the usual bunch of numbers and letters combo at the end.

However, they work now in spite of that difference. Thanks again for your consistent great efforts to connect the children with school, esp. during the early lockdown, when they missed school too much with some of us parents (who are bad jugglers;-) struggling with homeschooling.

        Enjoy the lovely spring!

        With gratitude and appreciation,

        Juan

      2. Hi Mrs McDermott, thanks for the rainbow!

We did experiment but somehow the colours kept getting washed off in water. Maybe too old colour pens thus too weak colouring? One rainbow’s red and orange grew straight out of the arch;-)! I suspect that my arch is not semi circle enough?

Fortunately we managed a vague one, like secondary rainbow. I cannot attach photos on this column here, though.

        Good night.

        Juan

        1. Hello

It is good that you tried the activity though and as you know science never is exact! The first one I did was too big and didn’t work well either. Anyway, not all rainbows are the same and in Bathgate they do tend to look rather washed out! Shona can send her pictures to me at deborah.mcdermott@westlothian.org.uk – I’d love to see them!
