Good afternoon P1! Monday 11th May 2020

Good afternoon everybody!

I hope you all had a nice weekend out in the sunshine. I was busier than normal this weekend. I had my quiz-master hat on this weekend – I wrote a quiz for all my family on Friday and then a different one for some friends on Saturday. Have you taken part in any quizzes? Maybe I should write one for children that you could do with your families – would you like that?

I also found some oil pastels hidden away when I cleaned out a cupboard, and I have been enjoying seeing your beautiful art work so much recently that it inspired me to draw a picture. I tried to use all the brightest colours, a bit like all the nice rainbows I have been seeing on my walks.

SumDog Challenge!

Usernames, passwords and the school code for SumDog were emailed out recently and lots of people have started or finished the diagnostic assessment questions (the first questions which come up automatically when you first log in) which helps set future learning at the right level of difficulty.

Please remember: these first questions/games are designed to set future questions at the correct level, so children should complete them without help (although you can read them aloud) so that they don’t end up with questions/games that are too tricky for them to work on independently!

For anyone who has completed the diagnostic questions, I have set up a challenge on SumDog to help practise measuring height, length and weight, as well as a little bit more on fractions (halves and quarters). The goal is to answer 50 questions in the challenge correctly between now and next Monday to earn 50 coins. Let us know how you get on – have fun!

Have a fabulous week and stay safe,

Take care,

Yours P1 Teachers

  1. Hiya! We made it onto sumdog and completed the task and Chloe’s assessment. I’ll send Miss Jamieson a private message with further feedback.

  2. What a brilliant oil pastel painting, Quiz Master there! We all love it!
Sumdog app is so much fun with game-based learning comparing with other links that Shona is dangerously addicted to it, leaving us little time for other stuff;-) Her face can be flooded with tears when our old iPad shows ‘loading’ far too long or the screens goes black suddenly;-)

Tons of thanks for Sumdog fun!

    Juan
