Good morning primary one, Thursday 25th June 2020

Good morning everyone, I hope you have had a nice week so far.Rainbow Kids

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So get on your way!”

As we come near the end of Primary one and think about moving forward into Primary two, we know how well you will do. We know moving into a new class and new stage can make us feel a lot of different emotions.  Sometimes it make us a little nervous but remember there will be lots of support from teachers and other staff in the school. It might also make us feel excited to start a new adventure. You might even feel both of these emotions and that is ok too.

Here is a little story about how our body feels when we are nervous.

We know that you will take it all in your stride and show your new teachers how wonderful you are.

Remember

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”

This is one of my favourite quotes and it is one of the most popular quotes by Dr. Seuss, probably because it’s so true. There really isn’t anyone out that that’s more you than you are. So keep shining bright!

Here is a favourite story of mine that celebrates how we are all unique.

What makes you special? What makes you, you? What would your fish look like? Ive attached a little example below, but I’d love to see your own design. Maybe you could take it with you to primary two on your first day to show your new teacher.

Guessing Games - One4kids tv

The teachers have a little surprise for you tomorrow. It is linked to a special animal. I’m going to give you some clues to see if you can guess which animal it might be about.

1 – This animal lives in and around mountains in central Asia.

2 – The colour of its fur and spots on its body, help it to camouflage.

3 – It has thick fur to keep it warm.

4 – This animal is a meat eater.

5 – It has a long tail to help it balance.

Do you think you might know what animal it is? Maybe you could do a little bit of research.Kid Thinking Cartoon Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock

Happy guessing.

P2A Thursday, 25.6.20

Good morning, everyone.

Can you believe today is the last Thursday of P2A?  It has been a very quick year!  I wonder what your favourite part of P2 has been?  I have loved teaching you and reading you lots and lots of stories.  Here are a couple for you to enjoy.

Have a lovely day and enjoy your last Thursday of P2A.

Good Morning Primary 2B, Thursday 25th June 2020 Mrs Boyle

Good morning Primary 2B,

I hope you are all well. Mrs Boyle is loving hearing about all the sandwiches you are making at home. I have also heard about all the other tasty snacks and cakes you have been making.

I thought you might like this story about the Lighthouse Keeper and the pesky seagulls who keep stealing his lunch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46wCRq50Wwg

You might want to make to think of a disgusting sandwich that you would give to the seagulls. Yuk!

I have also included a link to help you draw a lighthouse . You could add in Mrs Grinling and the seagulls to your picture.

P3B Thursday 25th June

Good morning everyone. I hope you all enjoyed the sunshine yesterday, it was such a beautiful day!

Myself and Mr Brice really enjoyed seeing you all yesterday!  Sorry we missed some of you, you were probably out in the sun somewhere 😀 It took us 5 hours (19,000) steps to get round you all, I have very sore feet today, but it was worth it!!

Its going to be another beautiful day, maybe even hotter than yesterday! Here are some fun outdoor maths challenges you could try if you are out and about.

P2/1 – Thursday 25th June

Hello everyone

I do hope that you are enjoying the lovely weather and that it stays with us.

Below is a link to a short video and some advice from CBeebies about staying safe in the sun that you might want to look at.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/sun-safety-for-kids

Here is also a link to an animated story about George The Sun Safe Superstar which you could watch too.  It only lasts about 5 minutes.

Today is the second last Story Time from Home.  You won’t be surprised that I have chosen a story about a naughty cat for today!

My naughty cats aren’t in the video – they are outside enjoying the nice weather too!

I hope you all have a great day and if you are going outside – remember your hat and your sunscreen!

3a 24.6.20 Good Morning

Good morning, everybody.

If you’ve read the newsletter, then you’ll know that I won’t be returning to school in August. I keep telling everyone that I’m very old and it’s time for me to retire.

I’m really sorry I won’t get to see you all before the holidays, but I promise I will pop in for a visit when you’re back. I look forward to seeing you then.

Maths challenge?? I was a teacher for 14 years before I came to Linlithgow Primary and I’ve been at Linlithgow for 18 years. If you do the sums, I think you’ll find I have been a teacher for a long time.

Every class has been special, but you are even more special because you are my last class. Thank you for being such a fantastic class and thank you also to your lovely, supportive parents.

Just for fun…

Katie Morag had a big walk this evening. She really needs a nap, but she’s a bit worried Hetzer might steal her ball. Apologies, another of my upside down photos.

P3B Wednesday 24th June

Good morning everyone! I hope you have all had a good start to the week. It has been lovely to hear from some of you this week, remember you can e-mail myself or Mr Brice to share anything you have been doing.

Seen it is the last week of school before the summer I thought this might be a nice activity for you to complete, keep and look back on.

End of year memories

One of the focuses for Health and Wellbeing this week is Road Safety. Here is a fun interactive activity. When it loads click on online module, read the information then complete the quizzes.

I thought I would make the riddles a little harder Have a go…

It was given to you, it belongs to you, but your friends use it more than you do.

What is it?

Have a great day!

Miss Ross 😀

Good Morning Primary 2B Wednesday 24th June 2020 Mrs Boyle

Good Morning Primary 2B,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to your summer holidays.

I have been thinking about all the fun activities we have done this year. I wanted to share a favourite book of mine that we have read in class. I love how the pigeon tries to get everyone to help him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-dHeNfXtgc

We also used to play the sharks game. You loved to change the game to get the wrong answer so that the shark bit the boat. Have a try!

Have a fun day!

Good morning P1! Wednesday 24th June 2020

Good morning everybody,

This morning I would like to share a story with you that we sometimes read in Primary One.

I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do. It has a super message about liking who you are and realising that everybody is different and everybody is special.

My favourite line is “I like me on the inside too, for all I think and say and do!” because we all know how important it is to be a nice person on the inside.

Here is another of my favourite quotes from a great (and very funny) book; The Twits.

As we come to the end of Primary One, all of your teachers would like to say thank you to you all.

Thank you for being kind.

Thank you for trying your best, even when things are tricky.

Thank you for making us smile.

Thank you for helping others when they feel sad or alone or are hurt.

Thank you for being so creative and imaginative.

Thank you for bringing joy into our classrooms every single day.

Thank you for being such stars and staying safe and learning at home.

Thank you for being yourself and letting us get to know you.

Thank you for being you.

Please also remember:

Mistakes are important – they help us learn. If someone else makes a mistake, encourage them! If you make a mistake, it’s totally normal and okay. Also remember to ask for help when you need it, other people will be pleased to help you.

It is okay to feel worried, anxious, upset or angry sometimes. Everybody feels these things. If you feel these feelings, why not try talking to a grown up you trust or doing some deep breathing to calm down.

You are wonderful just the way you are. Be yourself and be proud of that! Choose to be kind every day. Being kind makes other people feel great, and it also makes YOU feel great!

Thank you for reading quite a long post today and know that your teachers are really missing you and wish that we could be together because you are all so amazing.

Take care,

Your P1 Teachers
