P2/1 – Monday 1st June

Hello everyone

I hope that you had a nice weekend.

Today I have posted a special video to help with this week’s maths but it wasn’t made by me – this time it’s  Mrs Menmuir! She made it for the P1 classes but as this week we are also learning about data handling  I thought it would be nice for you to see it and try out some of the super ideas that she will show you. We have already done some data handling in our maths workbooks so it will good for you do some practical things like Mrs Menmuir suggests and also to try some online activities.

I know that some have you already been on the BBC Karate Cats website but this week I would like you to try the data handling activities.  On this website, they are called statistics but this is just really another word for the same data or information. It is a good idea to start at bronze level first.  Here is the link.

Below is the link for the first of this week’s Story Time from Home videos which is all about fairy tale characters.

There is still time to vote for the theme for next week’s story if you have not already done so.  Please click on the link below for more details.

Hope you have a good day – remember, please just do whatever activities you can over the coming week.

Happy Friday Primary 1, 29th May 2020

Good morning Primary one. How beautiful is this weather! I hope you have managed to get out and enjoy some of it. I went for a nice walk this morning and enjoyed listening to the birds chirping in the sunshine. We have also enjoyed taking our books out to read in the sun.

When it is sunny I love to put music on and have a dance in the garden. I love this song, it always puts a smile on my face. Do you have a favourite sunny day song?

Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe, especially in the hot sun.

Take care. Mrs Chisholm

Good morning P1! Friday 29th May 2020

Hello everyone,

I hope you are really enjoying this fabulous weather. Isn’t it beautiful to feel the sun on your neck when you are outside? Remember your suncream and sun hats to stay safe in the sunshine!

As you will no doubt be spending lots of time outdoors this weekend, I have found some fun art activities you could try if you think they look fun. You might have some other great outdoor art activities that you could share in the comments.

Outdoor Art:

You could make silly faces using natural materials and/or painted rocks, you could make your own brushes out of natural materials to do some painting, you could paint rocks and play noughts and crosses, you could paint rocks and make a fun version of dominos, or you could collect beautiful things from outdoors and make a design with them!

I hope you all have a super weekend,

Take care,

Mrs Jamieson

Happy Friday Primary 1! 29.05.2020

Another lovely weekend ahead with lots of sunshine. I am going to visit my mum and dad tomorrow. Although I have spoken to them on the phone I haven’t seen them for a few weeks so I am very excited.

I thought the poem below was really good. Whether you are seeing your family or not they are still very special to you.

Have a lovely weekend Primary 1 and stay safe.

P3B Friday 29th May

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather, it was a little too hot for me yesterday! Please remember to wear your suncream and a hat,  it is very important.

Have you seen these wonderful chalk pictures? I really like them and think I am going to try and do one (if I can find some chalk). This could be an exciting activity for your family over the weekend. If you do one please send it to us, we would love to see them!

When we were out a walk last week someone had drawn instructions on the path similar to the ones below. It was great fun and another super idea for a family activity, especially in the nice weather.

I have enjoyed looking at everyones work this week, you have all been working so hard!

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the weather.

P3A Friday 29th May

Good Morning 3A!

I hope everyone has their sunglasses and hats ready for today.  I think it’s going to be another lovely day.  Maybe you could try some different activities outside today?

What about using water and paintbrushes to make fun pictures and patterns on slabs?  Or you could try shadow drawing like this example?

This evening I’m going to visit my parents in their garden.  It is so nice to hear we can now have outside visits starting today.  I hope you are able to visit your families soon.   I’m also planning to have a BBQ tomorrow with Mr Bell and our children.  Fingers crossed it stays warm and sunny!

Would love to hear your news via email too.  I miss our morning check ins and hearing about what you’re up to.   Has anyone dropped off a rainbow picture outside school?  Enjoy your weekend and I’ll be back on the blog on Monday.

Mrs Bell 🙂

P2B FRIDAY, 29.5.20

Good Morning, everyone!

Well done for all the fantastic learning you have been doing this week. Mrs Boyle and I have loved receiving all your e-mails and finding out about all the fun things you have been doing..

Lots of you have enjoyed drawing and  making minibeasts and we wanted to share some of these fantastic bees with you.

You could finish off this week with a Cosmic Yoga session. This activity tells the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Have a wonderful weekend. The weather forecast looks good so try to get outside for lots of fresh air, fitness and fun.

Good afternoon P1! Thursday 28th May 2020

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you are all having a nice week. I have been doing some packing in my flat each evening because my husband and I get the keys to our new house very soon and will have to move everything across – you might think that doesn’t sound like fun, but I have been finding all sorts of things I had forgotten about, like my high school year books and these old photos!!!

The first photo is our horse Jack who we had when I was very little and then there is my grandma and me in Shetland!

This week, we are practising the digraphs /th/ and /wh/ – BBC Bitesize has some great activities to help you practise your sounds at home. Visit the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvq9bdm/articles/zk6f6v4 for /th/ activities. Alphablocks has a nice short video about the sound /wh/ that you can find here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPMDT-sL6l0.

We hope you are having lots of nice outdoors time in the sun this week – it has been so lovely and warm!

Take care,

Your P1 Teachers 😀

Good morning!!

As the weather has been so warm recently I wondered if you would like to help water the plants. This is one of our favourite things to do in our Nursery garden when the weather is warm. If you find any flowers in your garden or on your walk today why not take a picture of you giving them a big drink of water. If you don’t have a watering can at home you can use the helpful link below and ask an adult to help you make one. It’s super easy, lots of fun and helps the environment by watering the thirsty plants to help them grow. Hope you are all well and enjoying the sun ! From Miss Moore
