Good Morning Primary one, Friday 26th June 2020

Good morning Primary one. I can not believe that it is the last day of Primary one.

It has been such a strange term and end to primary one but I want you to know how incredibly proud I am of you all. You have dealt with the situation so well and it has been wonderful watching you learn and grow through. A huge well done to the grown ups at home too. You have done a brilliant job providing so many fantastic opportunities and activities at home. You all deserve a huge gold star!

As we finish for summer and prepare to go into primary two remember

” You are braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. “

Continue to be curious about the world and have lots of fun.

Have a wonderful summer Primary one!

Take care and stay safe.

Good morning primary one, Thursday 25th June 2020

Good morning everyone, I hope you have had a nice week so far.Rainbow Kids

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So get on your way!”

As we come near the end of Primary one and think about moving forward into Primary two, we know how well you will do. We know moving into a new class and new stage can make us feel a lot of different emotions.  Sometimes it make us a little nervous but remember there will be lots of support from teachers and other staff in the school. It might also make us feel excited to start a new adventure. You might even feel both of these emotions and that is ok too.

Here is a little story about how our body feels when we are nervous.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WSKSLIcJoE

We know that you will take it all in your stride and show your new teachers how wonderful you are.

Remember

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”

This is one of my favourite quotes and it is one of the most popular quotes by Dr. Seuss, probably because it’s so true. There really isn’t anyone out that that’s more you than you are. So keep shining bright!

Here is a favourite story of mine that celebrates how we are all unique.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwAQvHBCY2M&t=32s

What makes you special? What makes you, you? What would your fish look like? Ive attached a little example below, but I’d love to see your own design. Maybe you could take it with you to primary two on your first day to show your new teacher.

Guessing Games - One4kids tv

The teachers have a little surprise for you tomorrow. It is linked to a special animal. I’m going to give you some clues to see if you can guess which animal it might be about.

1 – This animal lives in and around mountains in central Asia.

2 – The colour of its fur and spots on its body, help it to camouflage.

3 – It has thick fur to keep it warm.

4 – This animal is a meat eater.

5 – It has a long tail to help it balance.

Do you think you might know what animal it is? Maybe you could do a little bit of research.Kid Thinking Cartoon Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock

Happy guessing.

Good Morning Primary 1, Monday 22nd June 2020

Good morning, I hope you had a lovely weekend. It was nice to see some sunshine, but gosh those were some heavy rain showers yesterday. I was out for a walk and had to take cover, it was so heavy.

Well primary one,  this is our last week of term. I can’t believe how quickly it has gone. It has been a very strange time learning from home, but you should all be so proud at how well you have done.

To celebrate that, have a think and discuss with a grown up what your star moments at home have been.

As this is our last week of term we thought it might be a nice for you to do an all about me for your next teacher.

To do this, please email your teacher with a photo of you, with a few facts or words to describe yourself underneath. We can then pass it onto your teacher for next year. I know they will love to find out a little about you.

We also have this all about me sheet that you could fill out (please only print it out if you can or want to) or make your own, using this as an idea, to bring with you when school starts back after summer.

Wellness Walk

As part of our health fortnight, this weekend why don’t you go for a wellness walk.

What can you hear?                                                             Can you hear birds, the breeze in the trees, rustling of leaves?

What can you see?                                                             Do you see flowers, water, buildings, trees?

What do you feel?                                                             Is there anything you can touch? be careful as some things might be jaggy. What does the grass feel like on your hand or how does it feel to walk on?

What can you smell?                                                           Do you smell freshly cut grass, or flowers?

Close your eyes and take 5 deep breaths, listen to your breath and be still.  Do you hear anything else? Do your senses change when you close your eyes and relax?

Have a lovely relaxing weekend Primary one.

Good Morning Primary 1, Thursday 18th June

I hope you have had a nice few days and have managed to get out and enjoy some of the lovely weather.

Have you ever heard that music has power?

Music is not only great to listen to but it can help in many ways. Music is great to dance to but also to help us relax. There are many different genres of music, that means different styles.

Do you know any different types of music? Have a listen to this  powerpoint. Which ones did you like the sound of?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uxF9CsxW88

A lot of research has been done and doctors believe music can actually help with our memory. Certain songs remind us of different times in our lives. Music can even help plants grow!Kids dancing of hip-hop and a boy holds a vintage tape recorder ...

Do you have a favourite song?

Today ask the members of your family what their 3 favourite songs are. With the help of a grown up look up the songs and listen to to them. You could even make a family favourite playlist and have a dance party. Which ones do you like best?

I hope you have a lovely day.

Good morning Primary 1, Friday 12th June

Good morning primary one. I hope you have had a good week. Again I want you to know how impressed and proud I am at all the activities you have been doing this week. You have been working so hard and have been so creative.

I was talking to my friend in France yesterday. I was lovely chatting to her and seeing her on the video chat. I wonder if any of you have done that with friends or family?

Can you remember how they say hello in France? Here is a little song and dance about saying hello in different ways. Can you work out what countries the different hello’s are from?

Good afternoon primary1, Thursday 11th June

I hope you are having a good week. I have loved seeing the photos you have been sending in, keep up all the fantastic activities you have been doing. They look great!

A lot of fairy tales have an element of magic in them and although we can’t cast spells like them , we can become scientists. Some experiments that scientists do are so clever and quite magical!

Good morning Primary one, Monday 8th June 2020

Good morning everyone,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. It was nice to see the sun come out for a while again. Hopefully we will see more of it this week. I went for some lovely walks this weekend. One was down at the loch and we saw some ducklings. They were very cute.

Our story this week is Cinderella, a well known fairy tale that I think all of you will have heard. Here is a link to listen to the story.

Good Morning, Friday 5th June

Friday again! I can’t believe how fast the time is going. I hope you have all had a lovely week. It’s a shame about the weather but i’m keeping my fingers crossed it will improved over the weekend.

Here are the answers to the Fairy tale houses. Did you guess them correctly?

Have you made one of your own?

This weekend my boys and I are going to watch a Disney movie on Disney plus. There is so much choice though, so it might take us a while to decide. Do any of you have Disney plus?

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Take care and stay safe. Missing you and so proud of you all!

Good morning Primary 1, Thursday 4th 2020

Good Morning Primary 1, I hope you are all well and have had a good week so far.

Although the sunshine has taken a little break from shining, it doesn’t mean we can’t keep moving and stay active. What things do you like to do each day to keep your body moving? Are you still going on a daily walk? There a re so many beautiful places to walk in Linlithgow, I’d love to know where your favourite place to walk are.

Are you a healthy challenger?

I have put together a challenge grid of different activities for you to do.  There is a mixture of different things for you to try. Keep a little record of the challenges and tick them off as you go and if you can, take photos or videos and share them with us. When you complete activities you can colour the challenge log or make your own way to record what you have done. (Please remember that you don’t need to print the sheets off. Have fun making your own log sheet.)

Fairy tales

I’ve put together a little guessing game. How well do you know your fairy tales?

Welcome to Fairy tale Way. Can you guess who lives in each house?

Have a look at the clues on each house to help you guess. I will let you know on Friday morning who lives in the house and see how many you guessed correctly. (This might remind some adults of Through the keyhole “Who lives in a house like this?”)

Can you create your own Fairy tale way. What would the different characters houses look like? Maybe you could get someone to guess who lives in each house. You could even send it to us to guess.

Have a lovely day primary one. Please keep in touch and send an email or comment if you have any questions.

Take care.

Good Afternoon Primary one, 1st June 2020

Good afternoon. I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are enjoying this lovely weather. I can’t believe it is June already.

This week we are looking at a new fairytale. This all about The Snow Queen.

What do you think it would be like to be in charge? Do you think you would be a good King or Queen?

Would you make people wear a uniform or allow everyone to eat chocolate with every meal or have to bow every time they saw you?

Why don’t you think of some rules you would put in place if you were a King or Queen.  You could make a poster to show your royal subjects.

Why don’t you design and make your own crown.

I made one by cutting out shapes. How will you make yours? What shape will it be?

Have a lovely afternoon.

Happy Friday Primary 1, 29th May 2020

Good morning Primary one. How beautiful is this weather! I hope you have managed to get out and enjoy some of it. I went for a nice walk this morning and enjoyed listening to the birds chirping in the sunshine. We have also enjoyed taking our books out to read in the sun.

When it is sunny I love to put music on and have a dance in the garden. I love this song, it always puts a smile on my face. Do you have a favourite sunny day song?

Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe, especially in the hot sun.

Take care. Mrs Chisholm

Good Morning Primary 1, 28th May 2020

I hope you had a lovely afternoon yesterday and enjoyed some of the sunshine. It got very hot. My boys and I had a water fight to cool down, which was lots of fun. We also made some delicious smoothies to keep hydrated. It is very important when it is hot or when you do exercise that you keep drinking lots of liquids.

Have any of you still been doing PE with Joe Wicks? Every morning he goes live at 9am to do a PE lesson with boys, girls and adults across the country and the world! Why don’t you have a look tomorrow if you don’t already have it planned to do. You don’t have to do it live with him, you can do it later in the day if it is easier. Remember grown ups you can join in too!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1JNIJi9X9w

Staying on the subject of PE, here are some challenge cards for you to try. Maybe you could make your own fitness challenges up and send it to your friend to try, or even to us teachers.

Good afternoon Primary 1, Monday 25th May

Good afternoon Primary one, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Did any of you go out for a walk? It was so windy wasn’t it. I’m glad to see the sunshine back today.

As part of  this weeks planner it talks about feelings and emotions. Here is a little Cosmic Kids Zen Den to help you think about what emotions are and how they make us feel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUUq0HuSLS0

Here is a little song you could sing too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J7HcVLsCrY

What makes you feel happy or sad? Can you make up your own feelings song? Or maybe you could make some puppets or emotion stones. You could tell a story with your stones or make up a game.

Can you guess the emotions on my stones?

Today I am feeling very happy and excited because my little boy Mason turned 3! It has been very loud in my house with the excitement. We are all looking forward to a piece of cake later. I had fun making this Paw Patrol for him.

I hope you have a lovely afternoon and manage to get out and enjoy some of the sunshine. Even with that wind the sun is hot so remember sun cream.

Please keep in touch, we love hearing from you all.

Happy Friday Primary 1, 22nd May 2020

Good morning primary one, I hope you had a lovely Thursday. I made the most of the sunshine in the afternoon went for a walk. We gathered lots of things to make a bug garden this weekend.

We saw some beautiful flowers too.

We are huge fans of Disney in my house so my boys and I have been trying to draw different Disney characters. Yesterday we did the Genie from Aladdin. He was very tricky to do but we kept going until the end and think they turned out well.
I know how good you are at drawing so thought you might like to try a character. I think this character is very funny and loved him in the most recent Toy Story film. Here is my Forky. Why don’t you give him a go. Take it step by step and pause the instructions if you need to.

Here is a step by step guide to draw Forky.

Well done again for all your hard work and effort you have been putting in primary one. You are all making us so proud!

Have fun this weekend and stay safe.
