Play Park Reminder

A reminder that our public parks can be used for exercise as long as the national government rules on social distancing are adhered to. Please avoid, where possible, touching potentially contaminated surfaces in public parks including play equipment, outdoor gym equipment, park furniture, handrails, gates, and signage etc. Children’s play areas, ball courts, skate parks, and outdoor gyms remain closed until further notice. Please do not use them, even if no-one else is present.

It’s also important that those exercising should, at all times, continue to do so alone or with members of their household.

Any resident witnessing an issue that causes a public safety concern regarding people ignoring the national government rules on social distancing, can report such incidences to the police on 101.’

Wonderful Week 7 of Learning from Home

The variety of things you are all doing to keep learning and practise existing skills is quite amazing. With an amazing day of weather on Wednesday I am not surprised to hear that paddling pools, water guns and garden hoses were popular. It makes me so happy to know that there are good things about lockdown and that it’s not all sad and boring.

Here are some of your reflections from this week and some photos too.

Olly – This week I enjoyed the West Lothian maths challenge and the problem solving.

Sophie – I enjoyed the clue dough puzzles and the times tables maths because I liked working them out.

Lakshya – I liked the flashback cards because of the variety of questions.

Luke – I enjoyed the flashback cards because they’re really fun.

Finn – I baked a carrot cake with my mum.  My mum and dad love it.

Blake – I liked making the African djembe drum. Making the paper mache was really messy but really fun. The orange one is the drum and the yellow one is a rice shaker.

Ethan – I enjoyed reading my new books (Tom Gates stories) and the Sumdog contest.

Kaitlyn – I enjoyed hearing a book on epic called Goosebumps it was three hours long it was funny yet scary.

Growth Mindset and Resilience

I have attached some resources on Growth Mindset and Resilience that we have used in class. I know that learning can be tricky at the best of times but in the current situation it can seem impossible for many of us. This might be a good time to remind pupils that there are things they can do or say that might help.

Primary 4 Reflection

It is lovely to get the chance to chat to so many of you on a Friday morning. It really does set me up for the weekend with a smile. I love to hear about all your activities and I’m so pleased that you are all managing to find some fun moments during this strange time.

Here are some of your comments about school learning you did this week:

Sophie – My favourite thing to learn this week was writing a conversation using inverted commas because it was fun making up people and something to talk about 😁

Rhys – I liked Maths this week because it was fun, some questions I found easy but some other ones like the problem solving questions I found more difficult 😜

Luke – I’ve been enjoying Sumdog. I found the fractions a little tricky.

Blake – I am enjoying the Africa topic. I enjoyed making a Lego safari jeep. I’m getting better at fractions but need some more practice. I’ve had fun baking gluten free biscuits.

Finn – This is what i enjoyed this week I liked the maths this week because it was much harder than last week.

Luke – I enjoyed maths because it was a challenge and I like a challenge.

Learning from Home Week 5 Reflection

Another busy week for the P4 pupils even though school was only 3 days. Once again I am hearing about lots of gardening, baking and crafts. Keep it up! Many of us were able to take our school learning into the garden on the beautiful sunny days we had. We had a 2 minute silence at 11 am this morning to commemorate VE Day. I know that lots of you weren’t able to join us online, but managed to do it at home anyway. I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Here are some of the pupil comments this week:

Luke – I liked the maths this week. I have enjoyed because It helped me understand fractions and now I’m really good at them. I also liked learning about Africa.

Rhys – I liked Maths this week it was fun and a wee bit difficult at the same time 😀 The tricky bit was when we had to work out equivalent fractions to put them in order. The fun bit was when working out the < > and= to fractions.

Harris – I liked colour by numbers multiplication picture. It turned out to be a highland dancer. It was from Robert Burns Day.

Sophie – I enjoyed doing read theory because I learned about killer whales and they are actually orcas.

Olly – This week I have done spelling, fractions, decimals, Sumdog and reading.

Freya – I liked maths too it was hard but fun.
