Last week was Mental Health Awareness week ! We all have mental health in the same way we have our physical health – and both are important at this time!
Focussing on what is Positive right now – in our own lives and our own families is important – but what is Positivity?

Hello everyone! Welcome to another week of learning. Remember you can now pick up your new pack from school if you haven’t done so already! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Spelling – You have a list of spelling words included in your pack – remember to practise these regularly and use the spelling task cards to help! You could also try these games to help you learn and spell new tricky words:
Writing/Art- Create a fact file about your favourite animal. Research an animal of your choice and explore the vocabulary required to describe them. Draw a detailed picture of them when you are finished.
Numeracy
-Select a number between 50 and 100. Make a poster showing how many different ways to make this number using addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.
-Complete the task below which tests your knowledge of the 2, 5, and 10 times tables:
Think back to our Scotland topic and all the fantastic facts we found out. I would like you to research Scottish traditions and customs such as wearing kilts and playing bagpipes, and the symbol of the Thistle. Create a mini poster or leaflet to include as much information as possible – remember to include pictures as well as your facts!
Music/Technology
Write a song about staying safe at home and why it is important. Put some music to your song by either using instruments you have at home or by making some – for example rice in a bottle makes a good shaker! If you are able to, please record your song and email it into school – I would LOVE to hear it!! There is some good ideas on creating homemade instruments in the video clip below, and I’m sure you could find some more!

This week’s book is ‘Everyone Got Wet’
Before reading the book, here are some questions to ponder.
Can you predict what the book will be about?
What do you think is happening on the front cover?
Who will be the main characters in the story?
Where is the story set?
What do you think the big green container on the cover is for?
Is everyone wet? why not?
With the help of an adult, read the story out loud. Remember all the things which a good reader does.

Use the pictures for clues
Looks for words or sounds which we recognise
Knows what to do if we get stuck at a word

The new sound this week is th – there are lots of th activity worksheets in your packs to help you learn all about this sound. Don’t forget to use them in addition to any activities I add on here.
I always call this the cheeky clown sound because you have to stick your tongue out a little to make the sound!

We need to be really careful not to get tricked out by this sound. It sounds very similar to f… but can you tell the difference?
Have a go at saying both these sounds out loud using the picture below. Try and feel the ‘cooling’ and think about where you feel it, on your lips or your teeth.

A new sound today! We are going to be focusing on the th sound.
Can you practice saying the th sound. Your tongue is flat and the air escapes between your tongue and top teeth. Your tongue will stick out slightly. It is a quite blue sound that often gets mixed up the f sound.
Can you blend these sounds together to say these th words?

For this activity go to you Home Learning Pack and in numeracy part you will find Home Activity 7 Largest/smallest, ordering number. Complete this activity, you will need to make 3 sets of 0-20 numeral cards and follow the first activity instructions. Then move onto identifying largest and smallest numbers and lastly the ordering of numerals.
Activity 5 – Health and Wellbeing
Last week you completed “What I Want in a Friend Activity” have a think about all the things that friendship means to you, then have a listen to the song below (I am sure you will recognise it)
How does that make you feel listening to the song? Can you draw a picture of yourself and write all the super qualities that you have to offer to a friend around the picture of you, for example are you kind, are you a good listener? do you like to share?

In class, we were learning all about rhyming words. Remember, rhyming words are words which sound the same. For example, cat and hat or ball and hall. Your task is to look at the words below and write a rhyming word for each.

Today’s special activity is a spot the difference! Look closely at both pictures and see how many differences you can find!
1.Design own cards. Put Roman Numerals on one set. Then ordinary matching numbers on the other set. Then shuffle. Practise matching them up or play snap with someone in your house.

LI – To talk clearly and with expression about a topic. SC – I can present a 2 minute detailed solo talk on a topic or event that interests me.
You did such a great job with your writing activity with Miss Taylor last week I thought you might enjoy this. Your talk can be about absolutely anything. It could be an area of World War 2, a hobby that you have or even be about your pets. It would be a good idea to write notes in your jotter then practise giving your talk. You could self assess using 2 stars and a wish. If you are able to, and would like to, you can send a video to the school email and then they will be forwarded to me. I would love to see them.
