Good morning all and I hope you are ready for another day of learning. I hope you all managed to log in to oxfordowl.co.uk and access the e- books. Here is a reminder of our log in details:
click on our class login
username: deansden
password: nurture
This should take you to ‘My bookshelf’ and then the selection of books.
The book I would you to explore today is called ‘The Haircut.’ Talk with your grown ups about what happens in the story and how the story ends. Once you have finished, go to play activity one where you have to organise the story in the correct order. Use the book to help you complete the task. Good luck!!
Good Morning Primary 2! Here are some fun activities for today.
Numeracy
Let’s practise what we know about telling the time. I have attached the link to the time song.
Have a go at the following questions:
Where should the minute hand be when it is o’clock?
Where should the minute hand be when it is half past?
Where should the minute hand be when it is quarter past?
Where should the minute hand be when it is quarter to?
Art
Let’s have a go at drawing Spring animals. First, you need to choose your favourite Spring animal. Here are some suggestions:
Bunny
Lamb
Chick
Pony
Duck
Swan
Calf
Once you have drawn your Spring animal, can you colour it in using only primary colours? Remember the primary colours are blue, yellow and red. After using primary colours to colour your animal, can you use secondary colours to colour the background? Remember the secondary colours are green, orange and purple.
Send a picture of your animal to wldeans-ps@westlothian.org.uk so we can see your fantastic work!

Present what you have learnt. It could be a leaflet, poster or information report for example.
After Break
Free write.
Brain break- here is a 5 minute mindfulness link but if you can’t get the link draw a large star in your jotter and trace your finger around it while practising your breathing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf5K3pP2IUQ
Health
Write down all your worries-or draw them. Scrunch the paper into a ball and throw it into a bin! This will clear your head hopefully!
Geography – go to the following site – https://world-geography-games.com/world.html and choose an area of learning you would like to focus on. Keep going and when you have finished that section try another section.
If you can’t get the link working try lying on your back and hugging your knees to help you feel safe and focused . Now practise your breathing. Then when you are ready go to a window and look out carefully. Can you see 5 beautiful things?
If you have time you can look through and think about the questions in this document. You might want to write your answers down or ask someone in your house if they know the answers-(which are at the bottom of the document). Clydebank Blitz Blether Stations Super Eco
If anyone has any problems at all downloading these documents you could always do your own research on the Clydebank Blitz.
I’m getting a chance to work with you on a Thursday now so I’ve been busy thinking up some fun activities for you.
I hope you are all well this morning and ready for another day of learning!
Mrs Hillan has encouraged me to do the Joe Wicks workout. Use her link again for you and anyone else in your house who wants to join in and get moving. It’s a great start to your day!
Next I thought we could revise some information handling work. Complete the attached worksheet all about our eye colour.
Now we have some tasks around our Religious Education learning. A few weeks ago now we were discussing our values in class. Values like being kind, saying sorry or caring for all. Look at the Lost Sheep powerpoint.
Finally I thought we could complete our tasks for today by thinking about our wellbeing. Watch the following slideshow and try out these simple yoga breathing techniques.
You may have seen Captain Tom Moore on the news in the past week or so. He has been walking to raise money for the NHS and has raised over 27 million! At almost 100 years old, he is an inspiration to many people and reminds us that we all can play our part in some small way.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52277760
I bet in 100 years of life, Captain Tom has many stories to tell!
This week P5 – 7 children we are going to write to him to share our stories and ask about his!
Good morning all!! The sun is shining which always makes Mrs Morrison feel happy, hope you do too!! I hope you managed to log in to oxfordowl.co.uk and read the first story, ‘Fetch’. Did you enjoy it?? Maybe talk with a grown up and think of a different ending to the story. Draw your version and ask someone to help you write a sentence.
I have attached a link to a programme called ‘Numberblocks’ which will help us to name, recognise and form numbers correctly. It will also help develop understanding that numbers represent quantities. Watch the episode and afterwards you could draw one of something that is around your house, eg: one toy, one door, one chair. Have fun!!
Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22 of April for the last 47 years. In 1970, a US Senator from Wisconsin, created this national day to create awareness of the environment and how we treat nature. Today this day is celebrated as an international event in 193 countries.
I thought in order to celebrate this, it would be a good idea for you to use whatever you have available at home to create your own ‘Earth’ picture. Below are some lovely ideas:
Below is a link to a Minecraft challenge. The challenge involves building your own sculpture for Jupiter Artland. The winning design will join the permanent collection at Jupiter’s online universe plus other goodies.
Literacy – Watch Newsround and find out what is new today – what did you find out? Is there anything you need help understanding? Ask someone at home or Google it.
-Create a bookmark – perhaps you could choose characters from your favourite stories.
-Read a new story today – use your new bookmark to keep your place.
Remember you can access books like the Oxford Reading Tree ones from:
If you click the Pink icon at the top right that says ‘My Class Login’ and enter Primary 3 Deans as the username and Mrs Hillan as the password then you can access these if you haven’t set up your own account.
