Term 2 in Dunratvie 2022
Beatlie Cafe for Live Music Now – 18th November 2022
It was lovely to see parents, grandparents and carers back in Beatlie for our cafe this morning. Thanks for your donations, we raised £100 for Live Music Now.
Live Music Now (https://livemusicnow.scot/ ) visited our school last year and worked with some of the senior classes. It was very successful and we hope to have them back again in the future.
Our children showed us how much they enjoyed listening to the live music this morning with lots of dancing, smiling and playing along with musical instruments.
Lammermuir – Term 1
Lammermuir have had a busy time since starting back in August. We have welcomed two new pupils to our class. We have been exploring different textures for messy play – some weeks we have even made our own mixtures during cooking groups and then played with it during messy play. We were lucky to have a visit from Calum and his Cool Creatures – our learners loved feeling all the different animals that came to visit. One individual has been working on mark making skills and has been independently drawing on the easel and on paper when they have their chair tray on. Another has been communicating likes and dislikes through their facial expressions and body language, they are very good at showing us the things they enjoy as their whole face lights up! Our newest learner just started with us at the end of the term, they are settling in really well and we are looking forward to getting to know them better. So far they have shown us that they enjoy singing counting songs and exploring our hat bag.
World Smile Day 2022
A smile is never far away in Beatlie so celebrating World Smile Day was no challenge at all! The theme of World Smile Day is to ‘do an act of kindness, help make someone smile’, things we do every single day. We did however take part in some additional smiley activities which you can see in the following photos and which we hope will make you smile too. We enjoyed going on a Smile Hunt around school to find the hidden giant smiley faces and were on the lookout for lots of acts of kindness such as sharing, helping others and making someone laugh in our Classroom Scavenger Hunt. We also enjoyed ‘gifting’ lots of smiles to people who made us smile or who we wanted to make smile. We all worked together to create our giant Beatlie smiley which we hope you will love!!
Autumn term in Lomond class
Duke of Edinburgh Expedition!
World Mental Health Day
We braved the rain to wrap the school in green ribbon for World Mental Health Day, giving ourselves a big green hug!!!
Pentland – Term 1
Ahoy Me Hearties from the Pentland Pirates!
What a busy (and quick!) first term here in Pentland. We started the year with a Pirate theme which we explored through various activities including art, cooking, sensory play, stories, dressing-up and physical games and activities…
Pirates was also the theme for our Class Charter…
We had a visit from Cool Creatures…
We looked for signs of Autumn during an Autumn Scavenger Hunt and used our senses to explore autumnal objects…
But our highlight has definitely been horse riding…
Our art wall so far with boats, treasure maps, treasure chests, leaf hedgehogs and shaving foam art…
Hope everyone has a great holiday and we’ll see you next term for the countdown to Christmas!!
Term 1 in Hopetoun…..
Our first term in Hopetoun has absolutely flown past and we can’t believe we’re already into October! We all settled in brilliantly to our new class and have enjoyed getting to know our new friends and adults. We’ve been busy with lots of activities such as cooking, art, relaxing, playing, and as well as learning lots of new things we have been having lots and lots of fun! We hope you all have a great October break and look forward to seeing everyone back after the holidays.
