Today some of our learners attended the ASN Football Festival at Broxburn Athletic FC. They had a fantastic time, working on kicking and dribbling skills, and especially enjoyed playing a a giant game of hungry hippos!

Spring Clean Week 2025
This week Beatlie got to experience and participate in Spring Clean Week. A chance to tidy up the garden areas and local community before we break for the holidays!
The weather was perfect for us all to get out and about in the gardens and local community for all to litter pick.
This all helps our environment too!
Science Week in Beatlie School 2025
Check out some of our videos from science week.
The theme this year was adapt and change some of the ways we explored this theme were:
- Animal habitats
- Made our own animals for these habitats
- Changes in the weather, seasons and colours
- How our own bodies change and adapt
- How animals survive and adapt in the wild
- Object properties including through cooking
- Observed changes in our science head for the week (and longer)
Hope you enjoy watching some of our best bits.
Fischy Music at Beatlie
We had a visit from Fischy Music on Friday as part of our Family Fun Sessions this year. Thank you so much to the pupils, staff and families who came along and took part. There was lots of dancing, singing, signing and definitely plenty of fun! We hope to welcome Fischy back soon.

Pre-loved clothing event
Last term Ochiltree took part in lots of upcycling projects and today was their final project as they hosted a pre-loved clothing event. They worked very hard to sort and lay out all the clothes, then today everyone had a job to do such as greeting the visitors and manning the stalls. This event also helped us mark the launch of our non school uniform clothing bank.
Some pupils and staff came along for a browse too!
Caroline from the Advice Shop also came along to support families with any questions.
Boccia & Curling Festival
Last week 3 of our pupils attended the ASN Boccia and Curling Festival run by Active Schools with the college students at West Lothian College.
We took part in lots of different stations to develop our throwing and rolling skills, and had lots of fun!
Christmas Garden donated by Community Payback Team
We just want to give a huge thanks to the West Lothian Council Community Payback Team. They donated us a beautiful Christmas garden that they made themselves from scratch. We are so grateful and appreciative of the amount of work that went into this.
This has made our lovely outdoor grounds even more special this Christmas!
Drama in Hopetoun
We have had a great time in drama this term, especially with our horse riding sessions. Thanks to all our parents for getting involved and helping to think of names for the children’s horses.
Clopper, Sir Trot a lot, Shug, Stumpie and Bam Bam!
We all had fun trying to control these naughty horses. They would try and run away and we would have to try and tie them up. Freya had to tie Shug the Thug to her leg one week!!
Jackson had a hard time with Bam Bam throwing the hay everywhere. He made such a mess. Indianna’s horse was very greedy and tried to eat all the carrots and apples. Then Thea’s horse would not let her brush his mane. She found this very funny. Lewis loved switching the angry farmer who shouted at the horses for the mess they made of his field. Everyone enjoy racing each other too. Lots of hilarity, wonderful focus and fabulous interaction from our amazing children in Hopetoun with their horses and staff.
Will keep you all posted about our next drama sessions!
Music with Gordon Term 1
A big group from Ochiltree and Duntarvie has focused on following musical instruction and instrument types. We have taken turns to wear a crown and conduct an orchestra of Tappers, Scrapers and Shakers, the musicians playing instruments in different ways. The group also explored volume control and followed instructions from the monarch to be loud or quiet.
Have a great break and I look forward to making more music together after the holiday.
Harvest Cafe and Foodbank
Last week we celebrated harvest time by hosting a cafe for all our friends and families. There were lots of visitors. The pupils made some delicious autumn treats to share with everyone. There was also a collection for the foodbank and a raffle. In total we made £134 and also had lots of donations of tins and packets of food. The secondary pupils are looking forward to visiting the shops to spend the money buying other essential items for the foodbank. Great work everyone!
