Hello to everyone and a warm welcome to all our new children and parents.   Here is a little update of what our little learners have been up to.  It’s certainly been a very busy time in nursery with lots of fun and exciting activities taking place.  The children have been learning all about spring and have embraced having the opportunity to share their knowledge, thoughts and feelings to develop their learning further.  The children loved working as a little team to tidy and prepare their garden for Spring/summer.  It has been wonderful to see our little learners work collaboratively and take pride in their garden.  We have also been busy planting sunflowers and the children were delighted to plant some strawberry plants which they have been taking good care of.  The children enjoyed taking a closer look at the plants and discovered all plants and flowers have roots.  This was a fantastic opportunity for us to learn more about the biology of a plant. After lots of interesting discussion with the children we decided to create our very own garden centre, this was a great extension of their learning.  It was wonderful to hear and see the children share their own experiences and come up with lots of ideas for the garden centre.  The garden centre shop provided the children with lots of fantastic learning experiences covering all curricular areas.  The children were observed engaging in some amazing imaginary role play using a good range of language and increasing vocabulary.  The children absolutely loved using the scales and the till which encouraged the children to use lots of mathematical language too.   Everyone has also had the opportunity to make their own sunflowers using lots of natural resources.  It’s been wonderful to see children produce their own individual art work they have displayed great creativity, we certainly have very creative children at St Nicholas ELC.   It has been lovely to see children embrace lots of learning opportunities.  Well done everyone!

Here are a just few photos of what our little learners have been up to over the Spring period.
