The children  had a great time this week role playing within our space theme.  They were pretending to be astronauts and aliens and had fun playing in our phone booth, which was transformed into a rocket.   They have also been very busy constructing their own rockets with blocks and other construction toys .  In the art area they have been making rockets using 2D shapes and staff have been encouraging the children to name the shapes while they were creating their pictures.   We have been reading space related stories to the children, watching astronauts floating about in space stations and rockets taking off on the smart board.  Story spoons (aliens love underpants), were put out to encourage the children to create their own stories through play.  It’s been a busy and fun filled week.
